Club Deportivo Walter Ormeño (sometimes referred as Walter Ormeño de Cañete) is a Peruvian football club, playing in the city of Cañete, Lima, Peru. History The Club Deportivo Walter Ormeño was founded on October 10, 1950. It was named Club Walter Ormeño, in honor of Walter Ormeño, who was the goalkeeper from Universitario de Deportes; most of the founders were supporters of the team. The Club Deportivo Walter Ormeno originally played in the San Vicente District League in the beginning but it moved to the Imperial District League where it would see much of its early success. The team won the 1970 Lima Department League. In 1974, The Peruvian Football Federation promoted all eight regional Copa Peru champions to the 1974 Torneo Descentralizado. That year was the first and last year in which the club participated in the highest level of Peruvian soccer league. It was relegated to a new relegation system which it eliminated the worst team in the league, the worst from the Met ...

The Peruvian football league system is a complex system. Though the general outline includes the Liga 1, Liga 2, Liga 3 and Copa Perú. The Copa Perú is very large involving several stages and leagues within it. In addition, the Copa Perú is played within a year. The 2012 Copa Perú season (), the promotion tournament of Peruvian Association football, football, started on February. The tournament has 5 stages. The Etapa Regional (''Regional Stage'') was the fourth division of the Peruvian football league system, forming part of the Copa Perú of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF). History In 1966, the First Division was named ''Primera División Peruana, Descentralizado''; teams from outside the capital of Lima were allowed to participate in the professional first division. The following year, the Copa Perú began, in which all non-professional teams in Peru were allowed to compete, with the winner to gain promotion to the First Division. After playing many elimination rounds, once six teams were left in the competition, they played in a final round-robin tournament in Lima.
