Walter Brennan
Walter Andrew Brennan (July 25, 1894 – September 21, 1974) was an American actor and singer. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for ''Come and Get It (1936 film), Come and Get It'' (1936), ''Kentucky (film), Kentucky'' (1938) and ''The Westerner (1940 film), The Westerner'' (1940), making him one of only seven List of actors with two or more Academy Awards in acting categories, actors to win more than two Academy Awards, and the only male or female actor to win three awards in the supporting actor category. Brennan was also nominated for his performance in ''Sergeant York (film), Sergeant York'' (1941). Other noteworthy performances were in ''To Have and Have Not (film), To Have and Have Not'' (1944), ''My Darling Clementine'' (1946), ''Red River (1948 film), Red River'' (1948) and ''Rio Bravo (film), Rio Bravo'' (1959). ''The Real McCoys'' is an American sitcom starring Walter Brennan, Richard Crenna, and Kathleen Nolan. Co-produced by Danny Thomas's Marterto Productions in association with Walter Brennan and Irving Pincus's Westgate Company, it was broadcast for six seasons: five by the ABC-TV network, from 1957 to 1962; and a final season by CBS, 1962–1963. Set in California's San Fernando Valley, it was filmed at Desilu studios in Hollywood. ''Rio Bravo'' is a 1959 American Western film directed and produced by Howard Hawks and starring John Wayne, Dean Martin, Angie Dickinson, Ricky Nelson, Walter Brennan, and Ward Bond. Written by Jules Furthman and Leigh Brackett, based on the short story "Rio Bravo" by B.H. McCampbell, the film stars Wayne as a Texan sheriff who arrests the brother of a powerful local rancher for murder and then has to hold the man in jail until a U.S. Marshal can arrive.
