	Walter Arnold Baker Walter Arnold Baker (February 20, 1937 – May 24, 2010) was an American lawyer and politician who served in both houses of the Kentucky General Assembly, in the presidential administration of Ronald Reagan, and on the Kentucky Supreme Court. A graduate of Harvard Law School, Baker also served as a judge advocate general in the Kentucky Air National Guard for 20 years. Baker's political career began with his election to the Kentucky House of Representatives in 1967, concurrent with the election of fellow Republican Louie B. Nunn as governor. Baker supported Nunn's efforts to raise the state sales tax to benefit education, the first of several education-related causes he would champion. In 1971, Baker was elected to the Kentucky Senate and was three times chosen as the Republican caucus chair. Life Baker was Assistant General Secretary of the Union of Post Office Workers, and head of their research department. He unsuccessfully contested the 1918 and 1922 general elections in the Harborough division of Leicestershire. At the 1923 general election he stood in Bristol East, where he won the seat from the National Liberal MP Harold Morris. Baker was re-elected in 1924 and 1929, and died in office in December 1930, aged 54. 	Walter Baker (Canadian Politician) Walter David Baker, (August 22, 1930 – November 13, 1983) was a Canadian parliamentarian and lawyer. Baker is best known for having been Government House Leader during the short-lived minority government of Joe Clark. He received much of the popular blame for the defeat of the government in a Motion of no confidence on December 13, 1979 with the claim that the government fell because "Walter Baker couldn't count". However, observers pointed out that targeting Baker as the scapegoat was unfair as he was House Leader, not Party Whip. The defeat was the result of the Clark government's decision to alienate the six Social Credit Members of Parliament by refusing to accord them official party status as well as Clark's view that he could "govern as if" he had a majority government. 	Walter Reginald Baker Walter Reginald Baker (May 25, 1852 – April 2, 1929) was known for his work with various railway companies in Canada. Born in York, England, he worked seven years with the Allan Steam Ship Company in Montreal (1865-1872). The Montreal Historical Society reports that he followed this with three years as Aide-de-Campe for the Earl of Dufferin, Governor General of Canada (1873-1876), but a March 1902 edition of ''The Railway and Shipping World'' indicates that he entered service as a freight and passenger agent for Canada Central Railway in 1873. 	Thane Baker Walter Thane Baker (born October 4, 1931) is an American former sprinter and winner of the gold medal in the 4 × 100 m relay at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, with a new world record of 39.5 seconds. At those Olympics Baker also won a silver medal in the 100-meter and a bronze in the 200-meter. At the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, he won a silver medal in the 200-meter.
