''Walkers'' (also known as ''Death Walkers'') is a 1980 horror novel by Gary Brandner. It was the basis for the 1989 television miniseries '' From the Dead of Night'' starring Lindsay Wagner, Bruce Boxleitner and Diahann Carroll, although the original novel was changed extensively for the TV film. Plot After drowning in a swimming pool at a party, Joanna Raitt is resuscitated by boyfriend Glen. Afterward Joanna believes that her life is in constant danger and that she is being stalked. She begins to believe that forces are trying to bring her back into the world of the dead. Glen thinks she's crazy so Joanna turns to her ex-boyfriend and Psychic Counselor Peter Landau. Joanna is nearly killed by a woman in a station-wagon and stalked by an unnaturally strong assassin. Peter reveals that her assailants are "walkers", the revived dead. The Walkers (Danish Band)
The Walkers were a Danish glam rock band featuring singer-songwriter Torben Lendager, guitarist Gert Michelsen, drummer-lyricist Poul Dehnhardt and bassist Jan Kanstrup Hansen. The band was founded in 1968 and broke up in 1977. They made several comebacks after their initial breakup. Walkers' hits include song "Little Kitty", which was covered in 2000 by another Danish band, Creamy, and " Sha-La-La-La-La", which was covered the same year by Vengaboys, and also in 1974 by Cantopop band the Wynners. Central Line is an R&B and soul band from London, England. They recorded two albums with Mercury in the 1980s and had two hit singles in the United States, as well as one top 40 hit in their native country. Career 1970s The band was formed in March 1978, and were signed to Mercury Records early in 1979 by John Stainze. The original founding members were Steve Salvari, Camelle Hinds, Lipson Francis and Henry Defoe. Hinds, Francis and Defoe were previously in a band called TFB (Typical Funk Band), which had contained members that would go on to form Light of the World. TFB also contained the drummer Errol Kennedy, who later joined Imagination. Salvari joined TFB after the departure of trumpeter Kenny Wellington in late 1976 who joined Light of the World, as their second keyboard player and the band members then stood at Salvari, Hinds, Francis, Defoe and Kennedy. Walkers Limited was an Australian engineering and shipbuilding company based in Maryborough, Queensland. It built large vessels and railway locomotives. The Walkers factory still produces locomotives and rolling stock as part of Downer Rail. History In 1863 John Walker and three friends set up the ''Union Foundry'' of John Walker & Co in Ballarat. In 1867 a branch was opened in Maryborough, Queensland, Maryborough. The Ballarat assets were disposed of in 1879 and in 1884, the business became a limited company under the title ''John Walker & Co Limited'', being renamed ''Walkers Limited'' in 1888. The shortbread is baked in the Moray village of Aberlour, following a recipe developed by Joseph Walker in 1898.
