Waarom
Belgium was represented by Jacques Raymond, with the song "Waarom?", at the 1963 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 23 March in London. The song was chosen in the national final on 16 February. Raymond had previously finished second in the Belgian final in 1961, and would later represent the country in a duet with Lily Castel in 1971. Before Eurovision National final The final was held on 16 February at the Amerikaans Theater in Brussels, hosted by Denise Maes and Bob Boon. Six songs qualified for the final having survived a series of qualifying rounds, the details of which are also unknown. The winner was chosen by an "expert" by jury and a public jury. The points were allocated through a decibel meter which measured how loud the applause was for each song, and the amount was counted into points. Jacques Raymond (born Jozef Remon on 13 October 1938) is a Belgian singer. He represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 1963 with the Dutch song " Waarom?". In the 1971 Eurovision Song Contest, he teamed up with Lily Castel to sing " Goeiemorgen, Morgen" for the Belgian entry on short notice after Nicole Josy of Nicole & Hugo fell ill. The Eurovision Song Contest 1963 was the eighth edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest and took place in London, United Kingdom. It was organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), who agreed to stage the event after , who had won the edition, declined to host it due to financial shortcomings, also having hosted the competition in and . The contest was held at the BBC Television Centre on Saturday 23 March 1963 and was hosted by Katie Boyle for a second time. Belgium was represented by Bob Benny, with the song "September, gouden roos", at the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 18 March in Cannes, France. Lily Castel (born Alice van Acker on 10 April 1937) is a Belgian singer, best known for her participation with Jacques Raymond in the 1971 Eurovision Song Contest. Early career Castel started out as a dancer before auditioning for television talent show ''Ontdek de Ster'' in 1958. She obtained regular work singing with orchestras, and through the 1960s appeared on television and performed internationally, including at the Sopot International Song Festival. Lize Marke (born Liliane Couck, Denderleeuw, 1 December 1936) is a Belgian singer, best known for her participation in the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest. Eurovision Song Contest Marke started singing professionally in 1962, and first participated in the Belgian Eurovision selection in 1963, when she performed two songs, "Luister naar de wind" and "Saksisch porselein", which made the final, finishing in second and fourth respectively. Marke sung all six songs in the 1965 Eurovision selection, and "Als het weer lente is" ("When It's Spring Again") was chosen by jury vote as the Belgian representative in the tenth Eurovision Song Contest, held on 20 March in Naples, Italy. "Als het weer lente is" failed to score, finishing in joint last place (with Finland, Germany and Spain) of the 18 entrants.
