Vehicle Registration Plates Of San Marino
Sammarinese authorities license private vehicles with distinctive licence plates which are white with blue figures, usually a letter followed by up to four numbers. To the left of these figures is displayed the national coat of arms of San Marino. Many vehicles also carry the international vehicle identification code "RSM" in black on a white oval sticker. Since 2004 custom licence plates have also become available. There are 220 km (135 mi) of roads in the country: the main road is the San Marino Highway. Road Transport In San Marino
A road is a linear way for the conveyance of traffic that mostly has an improved surface for use by vehicles (motorized and non-motorized) and pedestrians. Unlike streets, the main function of roads is transportation. There are many types of roads, including parkways, avenues, controlled-access highways (freeways, motorways, and expressways), tollways, interstates, highways, thoroughfares, and local roads. The primary features of roads include lanes, sidewalks (pavement), roadways (carriageways), medians, shoulders, verges, bike paths (cycle paths), and shared-use paths. Definitions Historically many roads were simply recognizable routes without any formal construction or some maintenance. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) defines a road as "a line of communication (travelled way) using a stabilized base other than rails or air strips open to public traffic, primarily for the use of road motor vehicles running on their own wheels", ...

Vigili Urbani
In Italy, ''municipal police'' (Italian: ''polizia municipale'') or ''Polizia Municipale'', ''Polizia Locale'' are police of the various municipalities of Italy. They are, in effect, the local police and work alongside the Ministry of Interior's Polizia di Stato and Polizia Penitenziaria , the Ministry of Defence's Carabinieri, the Ministry of Finance's Guardia di Finanza and other emergency services. Overview Some municipal police forces in Italy trace historical origins to the '' vigili urbani'' and '' comes stabili'' of ancient Rome. Urban policing emerged in the 13th to 14th centuries in the Italian comunes (such as Bologna); although police forces have been assumed to be a modern innovation, these medieval forces had some similarities to modern police forces. Today, Italian municipal forces go by various names, such as ''polizia comunale'' (comune police), ''polizia urbana'' (urban police), and ''polizia locale'' (local police). Function These are bodies that are estab ...

Guardia Di Rocca
The Sammarinese Armed Forces ( it, Forze Armate Sammarinesi) refers to the national military defence forces of the Republic of San Marino. It is one of the smallest military forces in the world, with its different branches having varied functions including: performing ceremonial duties; patrolling borders; mounting guard at government buildings; and assisting police in major criminal cases. There is also a military Gendarmerie which is part of the military forces of the republic. The entire military corps of San Marino depends upon the co-operation of full-time forces and their retained (volunteer) colleagues, known as the , or Voluntary Military Force. National defence in the face of an aggressive world power is, by arrangement, the responsibility of Italy's armed forces. The component parts of the military (other than the purely historical Crossbow Corps) are distinguished (as in many nations) by distinctive cap badges, one each for the Fortress Guard (uniformed), Fortress Guard ...

Civil Police (San Marino)
The Civil Police ( it, Corpo di Polizia Civile) founded on January 1, 1945, is one of the law enforcement organisations in San Marino, who police one of the smallest, but perhaps one of the safest countries in the world. In 2011, only one prisoner was incarcerated, making San Marino the least incarcerated country in the world. The Secretary of State of Home Affairs controls the Civil Police, who are responsible for tax collection, domestic security, traffic control, and civil defence. Currently there are around 50 police officers and civilian employees serving in the Civil Police, according to a report by the Government of San Marino. The Civil Police are required by statute to cooperate with two military units, the Gendarmerie and the Fortress Guard, who are responsible (from new regulations passed in 2008) for policing, criminal investigation, national penitentiary, changing the guard, border patrol, customs control, personal protection, and national security. Red Cross
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a humanitarian movement with approximately 97 million volunteers, members and staff worldwide. It was founded to protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all human beings, and to prevent and alleviate human suffering. Within it there are three distinct organisations that are legally independent from each other, but are united within the movement through common basic principles, objectives, symbols, statutes and governing organisations. History Foundation Until the middle of the nineteenth century, there were no organized or well-established army nursing systems for casualties, nor safe or protected institutions, to accommodate and treat those who were wounded on the battlefield. A devout Calvinist, the Swiss businessman Jean-Henri Dunant traveled to Italy to meet then-French emperor Napoleon III in June 1859 with the intention of discussing difficulties in conducting business in Algeria, which at that time w ...
