Birkir Valur Jónsson (born 2 November 1998) is an Iceland, Icelandic Association football, footballer who plays for Handknattleiksfélag Kópavogs, HK as a Defender (association football), right back. Club career Jónsson made his debut for HK in a 3–2 win against Knattspyrnufélag Akureyrar, KA on 27 June 2015. On 28 July 2020, he joined Spartak Trnava on loan from HK. He returned to HK in January 2021. Valur Men's Basketball
The Valur men's basketball team, commonly known as Valur, is a basketball team based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is part of the Valur multi-sport club. History The club was founded as ''Gosi'' on 25 December 1951 and was one of the founding members of the Icelandic men's top division. On 22 December 1957 the club changed its name to ''Körfuknattleiksfélag Reykjavíkur'' (English: Reykjavík Basketball Club) and played under that name until 1970. On 3 October 1970 the club merged into Valur sports club and became its basketball department. Under the new name, Valur had considerable success in the 1980's, winning the Icelandic championship two times, in 1980 and 1983, and the Icelandic cup three times, 1980, 1981 and 1983. The Valur men's handball is a Iceland team handball club from Reykjavík, that plays in the Úrvalsdeild karla. History The Valur men's handball team has a long history in Icelandic handball, the club is one of the most successful in the sport in Iceland: no team has won the Icelandic Championship and the Icelandic Cup as many times as the Valur men's team. The team's greatest achievement was undoubtedly reaching the final of the EHF Champions League in 1980, which it lost against the German TV Grosswallstadt. The final was played in the Munich Olympic Hall and was lost 21:12. Since then, no Icelandic club team has reached the finals of a European competition. Valur (club)
Knattspyrnufélagið Valur is an Icelandic multi-sport club based in Reykjavík, Iceland. The club is situated close to the city center, in the east side of town, on the former farmland of Hlíðarendi. The club was originally formed as part of the local YMCA to play association football, but later incorporated handball and basketball. Valur's handball section reached the EHF Champions League final in 1980. It has won the Icelandic league 22 times, more than any other Icelandic handball team. In 2019, Valur women's teams won the national championships in basketball, football, and handball, the first time that one club held all three major titles. The Valur women's basketball team also won all four major titles during the year and 47 of their 50 games. Valur Orri Valsson (born 15 June 1994) is an Icelandic basketball player for the Keflavík of the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild karla. Playing career Playing the point guard position, Valur started is senior team career in 2009 at the age of 14 with Njarðvík before moving to FSu and later Keflavík. During the 2015–16 regular season, he posted career highs of 12.9 points and 5.5 assists per game, good for fourth best in the league. He played college basketball for Florida Tech from 2016 to 2020. Despite having to sit out his first season with the team due to his age, he became the schools all-time leader in assists in 2020. Valur Snjólfur Ingimundarson (born 20 February 1962) is an Icelandic former basketball player and coach. He played for 20 seasons in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild and is its highest scoring player of all time. He won the Icelandic championship eight times during his career and the Icelandic Cup twice. Denmark Valur was a player-coach for Odense BK from 1995 to 1998 and helped the club achieve promotion up two levels in two seasons and to the Danish top-tier league in 1997. He left Odense after the 1997-1998 season and to over as head coach for Tindastóll.
