The Vélodrome de Bordeaux is a velodrome in Bordeaux, France. Velodrome
A velodrome is an arena for track cycling. Modern velodromes feature steeply banked oval tracks, consisting of two 180-degree circular bends connected by two straights. The straights transition to the circular turn through a moderate easement curve. History The first velodromes were constructed during the late 1870s, the oldest of which is Preston Park Velodrome, Brighton, United Kingdom, built in 1877 by the British Army. Some were purpose-built just for cycling, and others were built as part of facilities for other sports; many were built around athletics tracks or other grounds and any banking was shallow. The Palma Arena (also known in Spanish as ''Velodrome Palma'') is a multisport pavilion of the city of Palma. Its construction involved major cost overruns, and massive corruption. Its main function is hosting indoor track cycling races on a banked track, and it is one of the best equipped in Europe for this purpose. It was constructed under the auspices of Dutch architectural firm Sander Douma which specializes in indoor cycling venues, and was inaugurated in 2007 when it hosted the 2007 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. VELO Sports Center
The VELO Sports Center is a velodrome located in Carson, California, United States. It is currently the only cycling track of its kind located in the United States. Formerly known as the ADT Event Center or LA Velodrome, it opened in 2004 on the California State University, Dominguez Hills Campus, part of the Dignity Health Sports Park complex. The facility is owned and operated by Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG). The track has hosted the 2004 UCI Junior Track World Championships, 2005 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, 2006-2008 UCI Track Cycling World Cups, and 2012 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships, and will host the 2028 Summer Olympics' Cycling competitions. The Velodrom ( velodrome) is an indoor track cycling arena, in the Prenzlauer Berg locality of Berlin, Germany. Holding up to 12,000 people, it was also Berlin's largest concert venue, until the opening of O2 World in 2008. It is part of a larger complex, which includes a swimming pool as well, built in the course of the unsuccessful Berlin application for the 2000 Summer Olympics. This project is related to the German reunification and the wish of a city, Berlin, about to become the capital, to be nominated for the Olympic Games. The Perth SpeedDome is a velodrome in Midvale, Western Australia, Australia. It is Western Australia's only indoor velodrome. It was designed by German architect Ralph Schürmann and constructed under the supervision of English velodrome specialist Ron Webb. The SpeedDome was opened in November 1989, replacing the Lake Monger Velodrome, an old outdoor concrete velodrome in Mount Hawthorn. The SpeedDome hosted the 1997 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, as well as the annual Perth International Track Cycling Grand Prix.
