Adolph Friedrich Vollmer (17 December 1806 – 12 February 1875) was a German landscape and Marine art, marine painter and graphic artist. Life A son of a bookkeeper to a Hamburg merchant, Vollmer grew up in humble circumstances. Like Morgenstern before him, Vollmer travelled throughout Germany with one of the brothers, Cornelius Suhr, for a year and a half. Lula Smith Vollmer (née Louisa Smith Vollmer; March 7, 1889 – May 2, 1955) was an American writer and dramatist, from North Carolina. Her work was mostly Folk drama, folk dramas and includes plays, short stories, and radio serials; and some of her plays were adapted to film. Vollmer is one of the first Americans who was devoted entirely to the creation of works about Appalachian Hillbilly, mountain people. Jürgen Vollmer (born 11 July 1939) is a German international photographer, best known for his association with The Beatles in Hamburg during the band's early career. Vollmer, along with Astrid Kirchherr and Klaus Voormann (the " Exis"), befriended the band and were responsible for some of their most iconic images in their leather-clad days prior to Brian Epstein. Vollmer would go on to be a prominent photographer for films and celebrity photographer. Joseph Vollmer (1871–1955) was a German automobile designer and engineer and a pioneering tank designer. As chief designer for the German War Department's motor vehicle section, he designed the World War I German tanks A7V, K-Wagen, LK I and LK II. Joan Vollmer
Joan Vollmer (February 4, 1923 – September 6, 1951) was an influential participant in the early Beat Generation circle. While a student at Barnard College, she became the roommate of Edie Parker (later married to Jack Kerouac). Their apartment became a gathering place for the Beats during the 1940s, where Vollmer was often at the center of marathon, all-night discussions. In 1946, she began a relationship with William S. Burroughs, later becoming his common-law wife. In 1951, Burroughs killed Vollmer. He claimed, and shortly thereafter denied, the killing was a drunken attempt at playing William Tell. Jana Vollmer (also known as Jana Vollmerová, née Pechová, born 5 May 1973 in Mladá Boleslav) is a female former beach volleyball player from Germany, who was born in Czechoslovakia. Herb Vollmer
Herbert "Herb" Eberhard Jordan Vollmer (February 15, 1895 – November 8, 1961) was an American water polo player who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics and in the 1924 Summer Olympics. He was born and died in New York City, and graduated from Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. In 1920 he was a member of the American team in the Olympic water polo tournament. He played three matches. Four years later he won the bronze medal with the American water polo team. He played all five matches and scored three goals. Henry Vollmer (July 28, 1867 – August 25, 1930) was an attorney and politician who served as the mayor of Davenport, Iowa, and as a Democratic U.S. Representative from Iowa's 2nd congressional district.
