Volleyball At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's tournament in volleyball at the 2024 Summer Olympics was the 16th edition of the event at the Summer Olympics, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB, in conjunction with the IOC. It was held in Paris, France from 27 July to 10 August 2024. This was the first time in the history of the Olympic volleyball competition, each team participating was entitled to include one non-competing (AP) athlete to replace an athlete for medical reasons. France won its second straight title by defeating Poland (3–0) in the gold medal match. The United States defeated Italy (3–0) in the bronze medal match. Volleyball At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's tournament in volleyball at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the 15th edition of the event at the Summer Olympics, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB, in conjunction with the IOC. It was held in Tokyo, Japan from 24 July to 7 August 2021. It was originally scheduled to take place from 25 July to 8 August 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee announced on 24 March 2020 that the 2020 Summer Olympics would be delayed to 2021. Because of this pandemic, all matches were played behind closed doors. France won their first gold and overall medal with a 3–2 win over the Russian team that competed as the ROC. Argentina won the bronze medal in a narrow 3–2 victory over Brazil. A single-elimination knockout, or sudden-death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of a match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. Each winner will play another in the next round, until the final match-up, whose winner becomes the tournament champion(s). Benjamin Toniutti
Benjamin Toniutti (born 30 October 1989) is a French professional volleyball player who plays as a setter for and captains both the Polish club Jastrzębski Węgiel and the France national team. Toniutti won a gold medal in the men's tournament at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, and is the 2015 European Champion and the 2021 Champions League winner with ZAKSA. Personal life Toniutti was born and raised in Alsace by his father Maurizio, an Italian French, and French mother Cathy. His parents often travel to attend Toniutti's league matches. Libero (volleyball)
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the program at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. Jenia Grebennikov (born 13 August 1990) is a French professional volleyball player of Russian descent who plays as a libero for Zenit Saint Petersburg and the France national team. Grebennikov won a gold medal in the men's tournament at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and is the 2015 European Champion. Personal life Grebennikov was born in Rennes, France.
