The women's tournament in Volleyball at the Summer Olympics, volleyball at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London was the 13th edition of the event in an Olympic Games, organised by the world's governing body, the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball, FIVB, in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee, IOC. It was held at Earls Court Exhibition Centre from 28 July to 11 August 2012. Qualification Pools composition Teams were seeded following the Serpentine system according to their FIVB World Rankings, ranking as of 15 January 2012. Twelve qualified nations were drawn into two groups, each consisting of six teams. After a robin-round, the four highest-placed teams in each group advanced to a knock-out round to decide the medals. Earls Court Exhibition Centre
Earls Court Exhibition Centre was a major international exhibition and events venue in London, England. At its peak it is said to have generated a £2 billion turnover for the economy. Saori Kimura
is a retired Japanese volleyball player who played for Toray Arrows. She also played for the All-Japan women's volleyball team and was a captain of the team. She was a participant at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2008 Summer Olympics, 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal in 2012. She was so versatile that she could play any position. On 10 July 2012, Toray announced that Kimura will move to VakıfBank Türk Telekom next season. Brenda Castillo (born June 5, 1992, in San Cristóbal) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic and plays as a libero. She was a member of the Dominican Republic national team that won fifth place in the 2012 Summer Olympics, while she was named the tournament's Best Libero. Hui Ruoqi
Hui Ruoqi (; born 4 March 1991) is a Chinese former volleyball player. She was an outside hitter and the fifteenth captain of China women's national volleyball team, and played for Jiangsu. She retired in 2018. Early and personal life Hui was born in Dalian. Her parents are Hui Fei (惠飞) and Xu Xueyuan (许雪媛). She has a sister Hui Ruoxuan (惠若璇) who is ten years her junior. Both of her parents were keen volleyball players when they were young. When Hui was nine, her family moved and settled in Nanjing. Thaísa Daher de Menezes (; born 15 May 1987) is a Brazilian professional volleyball player. She won back-to-back gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.
