Volleyball At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The women's tournament in volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held at Capital Indoor Stadium and Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium from 9 to 23 August 2008. The twelve competing teams were split equally into two pools of six teams. Each team played all other teams in their pool with the winning team gaining two points and the losing side earning one point. The top four teams from each pool progressed through to the quarterfinals. The rest of the tournament was a single-elimination bracket, with a bronze medal match held between the two semifinal losers. A total of 38 matches were played: 15 in each group, four quarterfinals, two semifinals, one bronze medal match, and one gold medal match. Asystel Volley was an Italian women's volleyball club based in Novara. It played in the Serie A1 from its creation in 2003 until its dissolution in 2012. Marco Bonitta
Marco Bonitta (born 5 September 1963) is an Italian professional volleyball coach. He currently serves as head coach for the Slovenia women's national team and Consar RCM Ravenna. Career Bonitta took over the Italian national volleyball team in March 2001. He led the team to a silver medal at the 2001 European Championship, and to their first World Champion title at the 2002 World Championship. He left his post in September 2006. In 2014, Bonitta once again became the head coach of Italy. He coached the team at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro.
