VOIR
''Voir'' was a francophone alternative weekly newspaper in Montreal, Quebec, published by Communications Voir. ''Voir'' was founded by Pierre Paquet in November 1986. The first issue of the newspaper was published on 27 November 1986. Later on the newspaper developed various local issues with more targeted content. In 2013, the newspaper dropped from weekly to biweekly publication. On April 29, 2015, it was announced that all shares owned by Paquet were purchased by a group of buyers composed of XPND Capital, a Quebec-based private equity firm, and two members of ''Voirs management team, Michel Fortin and Hugues Mailhot. Starting 2016, it commenced publishing as a free monthly magazine. In February 2019, the owners Mishmash Média announced that it was discontinuing the monthly paper edition to concentrate on the digital online edition. Communications Voir is a Canadian newspaper company, which publishes several alternative weekly newspapers, predominantly in the province of Quebec. The company has published six French weeklies, all based in Quebec, and two English weeklies, one based in Quebec and one in Ontario. The ''Ottawa XPress'', or rendered as ''(x)press'' on its cover, was an alternative weekly newspaper in Ottawa, Ontario. The paper was launched in April 1993 by Jim Creskey and Ross Dickson, who both also founded ''The Hill Times''. Its original editor-in-chief was Derek Raymaker. In March 2001, the paper was sold to ''Voirs president and founder, Pierre Paquet. ''Xpress'' was the fifth paper to join the group, along with Montreal's ''Hour'' and the French-language cultural weeklies ''Voir'' Montréal, ''Voir'' Quebec, and ''Voir'' Gatineau, and was therefore part of the largest alternative newsweekly group in Canada. ''Hour'' was an English-language urban news weekly paper published in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, by Communications Voir. Its president-publisher was Pierre Paquet, the editor-in-chief was Kevin Laforest. The first issue was published on February 4, 1993. It catered to Montreal's anglophone community and was published every Thursday. The news features "expose readers to new ideas and alternative policies". Saguenay ( , , ) is a city in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, Canada, on the Saguenay River, about north of Quebec City by overland route. It is about upriver and northwest of Tadoussac, located at the confluence with the St. Lawrence River.
