Virginia's 99th House of Delegates district elects one of the 100 members of the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. The district is made up of the counties of King George, Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond, Westmoreland, and part of Caroline County. Other than King George, the combined area is called the Northern Neck of Virginia. Virginia House Of Delegates
The Virginia House of Delegates is one of the two parts of the Virginia General Assembly, the other being the Senate of Virginia. It has 100 members elected for terms of two years; unlike most states, these elections take place during odd-numbered years. The House is presided over by the Speaker of the House, who is elected from among the House membership by the Delegates. The Speaker is usually a member of the majority party and, as Speaker, becomes the most powerful member of the House. Caroline County is a United States county located in the eastern part of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
