Virginia's 2nd House of Delegates district is one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 2 represents part of Arlington county. The seat is currently held by Democrat Adele McClure. Elections 2017 The seat was previously held by Republican L. Mark Dudenhefer. He announced in January 2017 he would not seek reelection. Democrat Jennifer Carroll Foy won the June 2017 primary to become the Democratic candidate. She initially faced Republican Laquan Austion; however he withdrew from the race in August 2017. Republicans selected Michael Makee to run instead. Carroll Foy won the November general election. 2019 Carroll Foy was re-elected. 2021 special election Carroll Foy resigned effective December 12, 2020, to focus on her campaign for the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election. Grover Jennings
Grover Cullen Jennings (April 21, 1939 – June 8, 2020) was an American attorney and politician who served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1982 until 1993 Virginia House of Delegates election, 1993, when he was defeated for reelection by Barney Kidd. His father, W. Pat Jennings, was a member of the United States House of Representatives. Jennings was born in Sugar Grove, Virginia and graduated from Marion High School in Marion, Virginia in 1958. He received his bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech in 1962 and his law degree from University of Richmond School of Law in 1965. Jennings practiced law in Marion, Virginia. He died in an automobile accident in Johnson City, Tennessee. Candi Patrice Mundon King is an American politician who has served as a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates since 2021. Biography King obtained a bachelor's degree in political science from Norfolk State University. She has worked as a nonprofit program manager and an education advocate. Political career 2021 King announced her campaign for delegate in December 2020, shortly after her predecessor Jennifer Carroll Foy resigned to run for governor, causing a special election. Jennifer Denise Carroll Foy (born September 25, 1981) is an American politician and public defender serving in the Virginia Senate from the 33rd district since 2024. A Democrat, Carroll Foy previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 2nd district from 2017 until 2020.
