Vietnam At The Olympics
Vietnam first competed in the Olympic Games in 1952 as the State of Vietnam. After the Partition of Vietnam in 1954, only the Republic of Vietnam competed in the Games, sending athletes to every Summer Olympics between 1956 and 1972. Since the reunification of Vietnam in 1976, they have competed as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, attending every Olympics from 1980 onwards with the exception of 1984. The present Vietnam Olympic Committee was formed in 1976 and recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1979. Vietnam has never competed in the Winter Olympics. Vietnam won its first medal at the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney, when Trần Hiếu Ngân took home a silver in Taekwondo in the Women's -57 kg category. Vietnam Olympic Committee
Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC; , IOC code: VIE) or fully the Olympic Committee of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam () is the National Olympic Committee representing Vietnam. The insignia and logo of VOC is a stylized Flag of Vietnam, national flag of Vietnam placed above the Olympic rings. It has been serving as the official symbol of the Vietnamese Olympic movement since 1979, when VOC was officially recognized by IOC under the name of the reunified Vietnamese nation. Olympic Medal Table
The Olympic medal table is a method of sorting the medal placements of countries in the modern-day Olympics and Paralympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) does not officially recognize a ranking of participating countries at the Olympic Games. Nevertheless, the IOC does publish medal tallies for information purposes, showing the total number of Olympic medals earned by athletes representing each country's respective National Olympic Committee. The convention used by the IOC is to sort by the number of gold medals the athletes from a country have earned. In the event of a tie in the number of gold medals, the number of silver medals is taken into consideration, and then the number of bronze medals. If two countries have an equal number of gold, silver, and bronze medals, they are ordered in the table alphabetically by their IOC country code. Shooting At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's 10 Metre Air Pistol
The men's 10 metre air pistol event at the 2016 Summer Olympics took place on 6 August 2016 at the National Shooting Center. The event consisted of two rounds: a qualification and a final. Hoàng Xuân Vinh
Hoàng Xuân Vinh (born October 6, 1974 in Hanoi) is a Vietnamese sport shooter. Xuân Vinh participated in the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. He won a gold medal in the 10 meter air pistol and a silver in the 50 meter pistol competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics, becoming the first-ever and currently only athlete from Vietnam to win an Olympic gold medal. Early life Hoàng Xuân Vinh was born in Sơn Tây. His father was a soldier and his mother was a factory worker; his mother died early when he was just three years old. After her death, Vinh, along with his younger sister who was a toddler, moved with their father to the capital in Hanoi, where they lived in a small building.
