The Vestri men's football team, commonly known as Vestri, is the men's football department of the Íþróttafélagið Vestri multi-sport club and is based in Ísafjarðarbær, Iceland. As of 2024, it plays in the Icelandic top-tier Besta deild karla. History The club was founded in 1986 as the football department of ''Badmintonfélag Ísafjarðar'', or BÍ for short. It first participated in the Icelandic tier-4 league, then known as 4. deild karla, that same year and their first coach was former Icelandic international player Björn Helgason. In 1988, Ísafjörður biggest club, Íþróttabandalag Ísafjarðar (ÍBÍ), folded after years of financial difficulties and most of their players moved over to BÍ who took over as the town's major football club. The club took up the name BÍ'88 to mark the new beginning and Jóhann Króknes Torfason was hired as the head coach. The Vestri men's basketball team, commonly known as Vestri, is a basketball team based in Ísafjörður, Iceland. The club was founded in 1965 as Körfuknattleiksfélag Ísafjarðar and held that name until it merged with newly founded Íþróttafélagið Vestri multi-sport club in 2016 and became its basketball department. History The club was founded in 1965 as ''Körfuknattleiksfélag Ísafjarðar'' (KFÍ). In 1967 it reached the final of the Icelandic Cup where it lost to KR. In March 1983, KFÍ finished first in its group in 2. deild karla and played Laugdælir, Breiðablik and Íþróttafélag Menntaskólans á Egilsstöðum (ÍME) in they playoffs for the 2. deild championship and promotion to 1. deild karla. Luigi Vestri (25 April 1781 – 19 August 1842) was an Italian dramatic actor. Biography He was born in Florence to a civil servant, Cancelliere Gaetano Vestri, who intended for his son to follow him in his career. He was educated by th Calasanzi fathers. But Luigi was neither interested in administrative or medical trades. He gained acclaim in Florence for reciting dramatic roles. In the turbulent era of Napoleonic invasion of Italy, Napoleonic invasions, Luigi was briefly jailed, and fled from Florence. By age 21 he had joined the theatrical company of Consoli e Zuccato, which included the actor Giovanni Angelo Canova. In 1806, this theatrical company moved to that of the Bianchi, for which one of the actors was Demarini. The company moved from Ferrara to Venice, playing in the theater of San Benedetto, Venice, San Benedetto. The Bianchi company moved to join that of the Dorati, which included Paolo Belli Blanes.
