The Khoja are a caste of Muslims mainly members of the Nizari Ismaʿiliyyah sect of Islam with a minority of followers of Shia Islam originating the western Indian subcontinent, and converted to Islam from Hinduism by the 14th century by the Persian ''pīr'' (religious leader or teacher) Saḍr-al-Dīn.. Ali Velshi (born October 29, 1968, or 1969) is a Canadian television journalist, a senior economic and business correspondent for NBC News, and an anchor for MSNBC. He is also a substitute anchor for ''The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell'' on MSNBC on Friday night. Velshi is based in New York City. Known for his work on CNN, he was CNN's Chief Business Correspondent, anchor of CNN's '' Your Money'' and a co-host of CNN International's weekday business show ''World Business Today''. Murad Velshi
Murad Velshi (born April 4, 1935) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1987 to 1990. He represented the riding of Don Mills in Toronto. Politics He ran for a seat in the Ontario legislature in the 1981 provincial election and finished a distant second in the riding of Don Mills against Progressive Conservative incumbent Dennis Timbrell. When Timbrell retired before the 1987 election, he ran again this time defeating his closest opponent by more than 2,000 votes. He served for a year as Parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. The Liberals were defeated in the Ontario general election in 1990 and Velshi lost his seat to Margery Ward of the New Democratic Party of Ontario by 1,004 votes. Rumina Velshi (born c.1955) is the former Canadian President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). She chaired a committee for International Gender Champions. She became a partner in a nuclear company. Life Velshi was born in Uganda and she had parents who had Indian heritage. In 1972, Idi Amin who was the President of Uganda decided to eject Ugandan Asians from the country. She and her parents had to leave and they went to Canada. She arrived early in the year and later that year she had to decide on a university course. Velshi has noted that when she was evicted from Uganda she had one significant possession and that was her education. She was a student interested in maths and physics so a course in Engineering beckoned. She liked the description of the Civil Engineering course and she enrolled.
