Vaucluse's 1st Constituency
The 1st constituency of the Vaucluse (French language, French: ''Première circonscription de Vaucluse'') is a French legislative Constituency (France), constituency in the Vaucluse ''Departments of France, département''. Like the other 576 French constituencies, it elects one MP using the two-round system, with a run-off if no candidate receives over 50% of the vote in the first round. Description The 1st constituency of the Vaucluse covers the city of Avignon. Between 1988 and 2012, the seat has fluctuated between left and right, before first turning to the centre in 2017, before being won by the far-right in 2022. Only Marie-Josée Roig has succeeded in retaining the seat since 1988. 2007 French Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in France on 10 June and 17 June 2007 to elect the 13th National Assembly of the Fifth Republic, a few weeks after the presidential election run-off on 6 May. 7,639 candidates stood for 577 seats, including France's overseas possessions. Early first-round results projected a large majority for President Nicolas Sarkozy's Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) and its allies; however, second-round results showed a closer race and a stronger left. Nevertheless, the right retained its majority from 2002 despite losing some 40 seats to the Socialists. Souad Zitouni (; born 23 April 1974 in Boukadir) is a French lawyer and politician of La République En Marche! (LREM) who served as a member of the National Assembly from 2020 to 2022, representing the Vaucluse's 1st constituency. Jean-François Cesarini (30 September 1970 – 29 March 2020) was a French politician who represented the 1st constituency of the Vaucluse department in the National Assembly from 2017 until his death in 2020.
