John Eastin Van Maanen (born 1943) is an American organizational theorist, Professor of Organization Studies at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and best known for his contributions to qualitative studies in management and to organizational ethnography. His studies included longitudinal researches of policemen, fishermen, Disneyland operators, and London detectives. His publications include also methodological studies on writing organizational ethnographies and on power relations in workplace. His ''Tales of the Field on Writing Ethnography'' (University of Chicago Press, 1988) became a classic reading in many doctoral programs in management around the world. Adriaan Van Maanen
Adriaan van Maanen (March 31, 1884 – January 26, 1946) was a Dutch-American astronomer. Born in Friesland, he studied astronomy at the University of Utrecht, earning his Ph.D. in 1911, and worked briefly at the University of Groningen. In 1911, he came to the United States to work as a volunteer in an unpaid capacity at Yerkes Observatory. Within a year he got a position at the Mount Wilson Observatory, where he remained active until his death in 1946. Van Maanen claimed that his astrometric measurements of spiral nebulae revealed detectable internal motions, supporting the idea that these nebulae were local, stellar and gaseous systems that existed in our galaxy. His measurements were not consistent with Edwin Hubble's discovery that the Andromeda Nebula and other spiral nebulae were extragalactic objects. Cornelis Felix Van Maanen
Cornelis Felix van Maanen (September 9, 1769 – February 14, 1849) was a Dutch minister and jurist. Van Maanen was born in The Hague. He studied law in Leiden, and entered legal practice in The Hague, where he later became a general prosecutor. He rose to prominence under the French-dominated Kingdom of Holland, being appointed Minister of Justice in 1806 by Louis Bonaparte, and to the Council of State and as head of the Court of Appeals in The Hague in 1810 by Napoleon. He adapted to the changing political circumstances well, however, and was again appointed Minister of Justice in 1815 by King William of the new United Kingdom of the Netherlands. Along with de Nagell, he was a signatory of the Treaty of The Hague (1818), by which the British and Dutch established the Anglo-Dutch Mixed Commission Courts. Gregory Van Maanen (born November 3, 1947, in Paterson, New Jersey) is an artist who has been exhibiting work since 1988. He has had several solo shows at Cavin-Morris Gallery in New York as well as a solo show at Rutgers University. His work has been widely shown in group exhibitions and Van Maanen’s art is in the permanent collections of the New Orleans Museum of Art, First Bank of Minneapolis, National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum, New Jersey State Council of the Arts, Jersey City Museum, Morris Museum, and others. Harold Gene Van Maanen (July 28, 1929 – October 12, 2021) was an American politician in the state of Iowa. Van Maanen was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Gilbert and Cora (née Van Hall) Van Maanen, and married Luella Rose Groenendyk on February 23, 1950, in Tracy, Iowa. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, and served from 1952 to 1954. He was a farmer, but was involved in civic life, serving on the school board for Twin Cedars Community School District for 16 years. He served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1979 to 1999 as a Republican. He served as Republican minority leader from 1990 to 1992, speaker from 1993 to 1995, and speaker pro tempore from 1995 to 1999. Van Maanen is an eroded Lunar craters, lunar impact crater on the Far side (Moon), far side of the Moon. It lies to the east of the crater Kidinnu (crater), Kidinnu, and southeast of Tesla (crater), Tesla and H. G. Wells (crater), H. G. Wells. Since this crater was formed, it has been heavily battered by subsequent impacts to the point where it is little more than a depression in the surface surrounded by an irregular rim. The rim edge is heavily worn and poorly defined, with smaller craters lying along the sides. These in turn have become worn and rounded.
