Valea Vișeului Railway Station
Valea Vișeului is a railway station near the town of Valea Vișeului in Bistra commune, Maramureș County of western Romania, close to the Ukraine border. The station functions as the border control point on the line north from Romania to Dilove and Rakhiv in Ukraine. The rail line was reopened in January 2023 after a 17-year closure to provide extra rail capacity following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The station is on the Căile Ferate Române rail line ''Valea Vișeului–Borșa'' ( ro). A dual-gauge section within Romania allows Ukrainian trains to run across the border on wide gauge on the Valea Vișeului—Berlibas (Kostîlivka / Костилівка) route. Bistra, Maramureș
Bistra (; ; ; ; ) is a Communes of Romania, commune in Maramureș County, Maramureș, Romania. The Ukraine, Ukrainian border is located to the north of the commune. It is made up of three villages: Bistra (commune seat), Crasna Vișeului (; ) and Valea Vișeului (; ; ). The first documentary mention of the settlement dates to 1411. Etymology and History The name Bistra comes from the Valea Bistrei river, with its spring in the Hodea (Hovdea) mountain peak. The first documented mention of the village's population was in 1882, with 550 people living there. By 1896, the population had grown to 661, out of which 470 were Greek Catholic Church, Greek Catholic, 38 Roman Catholic church, Roman Catholic and 153 Judaism, Jews. In 1913, the village had a recorded population of 672, 511 being Ukrainians. Dilove
Dilove (; ; ; ; ) is a village located in Rakhiv Raion of Zakarpattia Oblast in Ukraine. There has been a marble quarry in the village since 1947. History Dilove was first mentioned in writing in 1615 and belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until the Treaty of Trianon in 1920, then to Czechoslovakia until 1939.
