Valdosta State University (VSU or Valdosta State) is a public university in Valdosta, Georgia, United States. Founded in 1906, it launched in 1913 as an all-girls college. VSU is one of the four comprehensive universities in the University System of Georgia. , VSU had over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Odum Library
The Gertrude Gilmer Odum Library is the library of Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia, USA. It is named after Gertrude Gilmer Odum, who was Professor Emerita of English. History Valdosta State College had been serviced by Powell Library since 1940 but at the building had grown outdated and was too small to accommodate the expanding student population since the institution became co-educational in 1950. Construction began in 1970 of a new library. The new facility, located at the heart of the main campus, was dedicated in 1972. The library continued the themes of exterior stucco finish and red clay tile roof like other buildings of the main campus but broke from the tradition of Spanish mission style architecture and was built in a very modern style of the era. West Hall (Valdosta State University)
West Hall, built in 1917, is the oldest building at Valdosta State University and features a distinctive dome and Spanish-mission architecture. It is also the center of academic activity at VSU, with numerous classrooms, departments, and offices. West Hall is named in honor of Senator W.S. Wild Adventures
Wild Adventures (formerly known as Liberty Farms) is a zoological theme park located in Clyattville, Georgia, south of Valdosta, Georgia. The park is owned by Herschend Family Entertainment and has been managed by Jon Vigue since October 2020. Wild Adventures has rides, exotic animals, the Splash Island water park, and live shows. History Kent Buescher and his wife Dawn Buescher founded the park on a plot of farmland outside of Valdosta, Georgia. It was established in 1996 for around $10 million. Wild Adventures started as a small petting zoo known as Liberty Farms D&L (Distribution & Logistics ). The park now hosts six roller coasters and numerous flat rides. Valdosta Mall is an enclosed shopping mall located in Valdosta, Georgia, United States. It is composed of more than 70 stores and restaurants in of gross leasable area. Belk, and JCPenney, are the mall's anchor stores. The wing featuring JCPenney was part of a 1985 expansion. An Additional Vacant Anchor was previously a Sears which closed in 2018. In 2006, an outdoor concourse was added to the mall's front face, bringing in Old Navy, PetSmart, Office Depot and Ross Dress For Less as junior anchors. In 2007, the JCPenney store expanded greatly, taking over some of the space vacated when the old movie theater moved across the street.
