Valdosta State Blazers Women's Basketball
The Valdosta State Blazers are the athletic teams that represent the Valdosta State University, located in Valdosta, Georgia, in intercollegiate sports at the Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Blazers have primarily competed in the Gulf South Conference since the 1981–82 academic year. Valdosta State competes in twelve intercollegiate varsity sports. Men's sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, and tennis; while women's sports include basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. Valdosta State University
Valdosta State University (VSU or Valdosta State) is a public university in Valdosta, Georgia, United States. Founded in 1906, it launched in 1913 as an all-girls college. David Dean
David Dean (born February 3, 1964) is an American college football coach and former player. He is the head coach at Lanier County High School in Lakeland, Georgia, a position he has held since 2024. He was the head football coach for the University of West Georgia from 2017 to 2023. Dean served as the head football coach at Valdosta State University from 2007 to 2015, compiling a record of 79–27 in nine seasons. His team won the NCAA Division II Football Championship in 2007 and in 2012. Chris Hatcher (born February 18, 1973) is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Samford University, a position he has held since 2014. Jessie Tuggle
Jessie Lloyd Tuggle Jr. (born April 4, 1965) is an American former professional football player who spent his entire career as a linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL) from 1987 to 2000. He played college football for the Valdosta State Blazers. He appeared in the Pro Bowl five times, and played in Super Bowl XXXIII. His nickname is "the Hammer", because of the impact of his tackles.
