Nissan VG Engine
The VG engine is a family of V6 engines designed and produced by Nissan between 1983 and 2004. Nissan's and Japan's first mass-produced V6, the iron block/aluminum head 60° VG engine was produced in displacements between 2.0 and 3.3 liters. Early versions used SOHC cylinder heads with two valves per cylinder; later models featured DOHC cylinder heads, four valves per cylinder, a slightly different engine block and N-VCT, Nissan's own version of variable valve timing, delivering a smoother idle and more torque at low to medium engine speeds. Both production blocks and head castings were used successfully in the Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo and NPT-90 race cars which won the IMSA GT Championship three years in a row. Origins Development of the ''VG'' series began in 1979 by Nissan Machinery, a former member of the Nissan Group ''keiretsu''. The objective was to replace the inline 6 Nissan L engine, which traces its roots back to the Mercedes-Benz M180 engine introduced in 1951, with ...

VG (nerve Agent)
VG (IUPAC name: ''O'',''O''-diethyl ''S''- -(diethylamino)ethylphosphorothioate) (also called amiton or Tetram) is a "V-series" nerve agent chemically similar to the better-known VX nerve agent. Tetram was the proposed trade name for the substance and amiton its ISO common name when it was tested as an acaricide by ICI in the 1950s. It is now only of historic interest as the first member of the V-series. History By the 1950s, the use of organophosphate insecticides was well established, despite their known toxicity to mammals. For example, parathion had been developed in the 1940s and became widely used in agriculture despite its known oral toxicity. Many chemical companies continued to research this type of acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, seeking to develop alternatives which had greater human safety while retaining their activity on pests. In 1952, Dr. Ranajit Ghosh, a chemist at Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), investigated organophosphate esters of substituted amino ethan ...

Volume Group
In Linux, Logical Volume Manager (LVM) is a device mapper framework that provides logical volume management for the Linux kernel. Most modern Linux distributions are LVM-aware to the point of being able to have their root file systems on a logical volume. Heinz Mauelshagen wrote the original LVM code in 1998, when he was working at Sistina Software, taking its primary design guidelines from the HP-UX's volume manager. Uses LVM is used for the following purposes: * Creating single logical volumes of multiple physical volumes or entire hard disks (somewhat similar to RAID 0, but more similar to JBOD), allowing for dynamic volume resizing. * Managing large hard disk farms by allowing disks to be added and replaced without downtime or service disruption, in combination with hot swapping. * On small systems (like a desktop), instead of having to estimate at installation time how big a partition might need to be, LVM allows filesystems to be easily resized as needed. * Performin ...
