Víctor Flores Olea
Víctor Flores Olea (24 August 1932 – 22 November 2020) was a Mexican academic, writer, photographer, and diplomat. He held positions at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and in the federal government, and he represented his country as ambasador to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and as permanent representative to the United Nations. His published books comprised both fiction and non-fiction, as well as collections of his photographs. Professional life Víctor Flores Olea was born in Toluca, State of Mexico, in 1932. He studied law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and pursued postgraduate studies in Paris and Rome. He was the director of the Centre for Latin American Studies at the UNAM's School of Political and Social Sciences (FCPyS) from 1966 to 1969; his tenure coincided with the 1968 students' movement, during which he served as an intermediary between the authorities and the protesting students. Toluca , officially Toluca de Lerdo , is the States of Mexico, state capital of the State of Mexico as well as the seat of the Municipality of Toluca. ''Nexos'' is a cultural and political magazine based in Mexico City, Mexico. History and profile ''Nexos'' was founded in 1978. The founders were a group of Intellectuals headed by Héctor Aguilar Camín. The magazine modeled on the ''New York Review of Books''. Since the establishment of the magazine a number of leading intellectuals among its writers and contributors, such as José Woldenberg and Wendy Guerra have edited it. The magazine is published on a monthly basis. The magazine has socialist political views, and is a representative of the left-wing cultural and literary establishments in the country. It supported militant actions to offer social justice and equality to the poor in the 1980s. The ''Deseret News'' () is a multi-platform newspaper based in Salt Lake City, published by Deseret News Publishing Company, a subsidiary of Deseret Management Corporation, which is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Operation Uphold Democracy was a multinational military intervention designed to remove the military regime led and installed by Raoul Cédras after the 1991 Haitian coup d'état overthrew the elected President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. United Nations Security Council resolution 940 was adopted on 31 July 1994. The Academia Mexicana de la Lengua (variously translated as the Mexican Academy of Language, the Mexican Academy of the Language, the Mexican Academy of Letters, or glossed as the Mexican Academy of the Spanish Language; acronym AML) is the correspondent academy in Mexico of the Royal Spanish Academy.
