The 1st District of Budapest is the Castle District ( or ) and is the historical part of the Buda side of Budapest. It consists of the Buda Castle Hill and some other neighborhoods around it, like Tabán, Krisztinaváros and parts of Gellért Hill. Fisherman's Bastion
The Halászbástya () or Fisherman's Bastion is one of the best known historical monuments in Budapest, located near the Buda Castle, in the Várkerület (Buda Castle District). Since 1987, it has been designated a World Heritage Sites, UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Várkerület, Várkerület District (Buda Castle District). It offers a unique panorama of Budapest from its Neo-Romanesque lookout terraces. The Fisherman's Bastion's main façade, parallel to the Danube, is approximately 140 metres long, of which the southern aisle is about 40 metres long, the north is 65 metres long, and the ornate central parapet is 35 metres long. Its seven high-pitched stone towers symbolise the seven chieftains of the Magyars, seven chieftains of the Hungarians who founded Hungary in 895. List Of Districts In Budapest
Budapest, the capital of Hungary has 23 districts (, ), each with its own Municipality, municipal government. The number of districts in Budapest Budapest was organized into 10 districts (numbered from I to X) in 1873 after the unification of the cities of Pest (city), Pest, Buda and Óbuda. The districts at that time: *Buda: I, II *Óbuda: III *Pest: IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X In the 1930s, 4 new districts were organized, numbered from XI to XIV. On 1 January 1950, 7 neighboring towns and 16 villages were annexed to Budapest by creating 9 new districts, so the number of its districts increased to 22. 2019 Budapest Assembly Election
The 2019 Budapest Assembly election was held on 13 October 2019, concurring with other local elections in Hungary. Voters elected the Mayor of Budapest, and the mayors of the 23 districts directly, while 9 seats in the assembly were distributed proportionally, taking into account votes cast for losing district mayoral candidates. Mayor Gergely Karácsony was elected mayor with 50.86% of the vote, defeating incumbent István Tarlós who held the office since 2010. Gellért Hill
Gellért Hill (; ; ) is a high hill overlooking the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. It is located in the 1st and the 11th districts. The hill was named after Saint Gerard who was thrown to death from the hill. The famous Hotel Gellért and the Gellért Baths can be found in ''Gellért Square'' at the foot of the hill, next to Liberty Bridge. The Gellért Hill Cave is also located on the hill, facing the hotel and the Danube. At the top of the hill, the Citadella (''English: citadel'') can be found with a nice panoramic view of the city. Origin of the name The first recorded names of the hill in the Middle Ages were ''Kelen-hegy'', ''Pesti-hegy (English: Pest Hill)'' and ''Blocksberg''. László Böröcz (born in Szombathely, Hungary on November 11, 1983) is a Hungarian politician. He was a member of the National Assembly of Hungary (''Országgyűlés)''. He has also served as the chairman of Fidelitas (Hungary) between 2015 and 2019. He was elected member of parliament in 2018. Krisztinaváros
Krisztinaváros () () is a neighborhood in central Budapest, situated just west of Buda Castle, Castle Hill, north of Tabán. It is named after Archduchess Maria Christina, Duchess of Teschen, Archduchess Maria Christina, daughter of Maria Theresa of Austria, Maria Theresa, who interceded for buildings to be erected in this area. The history of Krisztinaváros is inseparable from that of the neighboring old Tabán, Naphegy and Gellérthegy. The central features are ''Krisztina tér'' and the entrance to the Castle Hill tunnel.
