The 2012 United States House of Representatives elections in Georgia were held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, and elected the 14 United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representatives from the state, one from each of the state's 14 list of United States congressional districts, congressional districts, an increase of one seat following the 2010 United States Census. The elections coincided with the elections of other federal and state offices, including a quadrennial 2012 United States presidential election, presidential election. The party primary elections were held on July 31, 2012, and the run-off on August 21, 2012. The new congressional map, drawn and passed by the Republican-controlled Georgia General Assembly, was signed into law by Governor of Georgia, Governor Nathan Deal on September 7, 2011. Georgia's 2nd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Georgia. The district is currently represented by Democrat Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. Georgia's largest district by land area, it comprises much of the southwestern portion of the state. Much of the district is rural, although the district has a number of small cities and medium-sized towns, such as Albany, Americus, Bainbridge, and Thomasville. It also contains most of Columbus and most of Macon. The district is also the historic and current home of former President Jimmy Carter. The ''Savannah Morning News'' is a daily newspaper in Savannah, Georgia. It is published by Gannett. The motto of the paper is "Light of the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry". The paper serves Savannah, its metropolitan area, and parts of South Carolina. History William Tappan Thompson, author of the ''Major Jones'' series of humorous stories, along with John McKinney Cooper as publisher and owner, founded the paper on January 15, 1850 as the ''Daily Morning News''. Jack Kingston
John Heddens Kingston (born April 24, 1955) is an American politician who served as U.S. representative for in southeast Georgia, serving from 1993 to 2015. He is a member of the Republican Party and was part of the House leadership (2002–06) when he served as vice-chair of the Republican Conference. In 2014, he ran for the U.S. Senate seat occupied by retiring senator Saxby Chambliss and advanced beyond the May 20 primary to the July 22 runoff, where he was defeated by David Perdue. Georgia's 14th congressional district was created following the 2010 Census, when Georgia gained a 14th seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. The district is represented by Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene. The district is mostly rural and exurban in character. Like most of north Georgia, it has turned almost solidly Republican. While conservative Democrats held most local offices and state legislative seats in what is now the 14th well into the 1990s, today there are almost no elected Democrats above the county level. Georgia's 9th congressional district is a congressional district in the north of the U.S. state of Georgia. The district is represented by Republican Andrew Clyde, who succeeded fellow Republican Doug Collins. Georgia's 6th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Georgia. , it is represented by Democrat Lucy McBath. The Georgia 6th district's boundaries were redrawn following the 2020 census to be significantly more Republican-leaning than it had been in the previous decade. The first election using the new district boundaries (listed below) were the 2022 congressional elections. Due to the changing political orientation of the district, McBath announced that she would be running against Carolyn Bourdeaux in the Democratic primary in the neighboring 7th congressional district.
