Upea Capo D'Orlando
Orlandina Basket, known as Infodrive Capo d'Orlando for sponsorship reasons, is an Italian professional basketball club that is based in Capo d'Orlando, Sicily. It plays in the second tier Serie A2 Basket. Founded in 1978, it was one of the youngest teams of the Serie A 2007-2008 based on foundation date, with in addition being the city with fewest citizens. Financial issues forced the team to restart from the Serie C Dilettanti after being excluded from Serie A in October 2008, but thanks to two promotions and two repechages the team managed to climb back to the upper-most league, where it competed for four years before being relegated to the lower league in 2018. Serie A2, known for sponsorship reasons as Serie A2 Old Wild West, is a men's basketball list of basketball leagues, league in Italy. It constitutes the second-tier of the Italian basketball league system, Italian league pyramid, below the first division Lega Basket Serie A, LBA and above the third division Serie B Basket, Serie B, with promotion and relegation, promotion/relegation occurring between these leagues. It is run by the Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro (LNP), itself regulated by the Federazione Italiana Pallacanestro, FIP, the Italian federation. Names History The league was created in May 1974, by the Lega Basket, the organisation in charge of running the Lega Basket Serie A, LBA (to this day), that decided to create a new second division with 10 clubs.
