''Up in Mabel's Room'' is a 1926 American Silent film, silent comedy film directed by E. Mason Hopper and starring Marie Prevost and Harrison Ford (silent film actor), Harrison Ford. It is based on the 1919 play of the same name by Wilson Collison and Otto Harbach. The film was Up in Mabel's Room (1944 film), remade in 1944 starring Marjorie Reynolds, Dennis O'Keefe and Gail Patrick. Charles Herbert Christie (April 13, 1882 – October 1, 1955) and Alfred Ernest Christie (November 23, 1886 – April 14, 1951) were Canadian motion picture entrepreneurs. Early life Charles Herbert Christie was born between April 13, 1880, and April 13, 1882. Alfred Ernest Christie was born between October 23, 1881, and November 23, 1886; both were born in London, Ontario. Their father managed the Opera House in the city and their mother was its box-office manager and accountant. Charles graduated from school when he was 14; he graduated from a four-year accountancy course in two years at age 16. Career At 23, Charles was offered a job as the stage manager for Liebler and Company and accepted it on the condition that his brother Al also be given a job. Gail Patrick (born Margaret LaVelle Fitzpatrick; June 20, 1911 – July 6, 1980) was an American film actress and television producer. Often cast as the bad girl or the other woman, she appeared in more than 60 feature films between 1932 and 1948, notably '' My Man Godfrey'' (1936), ''Stage Door'' (1937), and ''My Favorite Wife'' (1940). After retiring from acting, she became, as Gail Patrick Jackson, president of Paisano Productions and executive producer of the '' Perry Mason'' television series (1957–1966). She was one of the first female producers, and the only female executive producer in prime time during the nine years ''Perry Mason'' was on the air. She served two terms (1960–1962) as vice president of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and as president of its Hollywood chapter—the first woman to serve in a leadership capacity in the academy, and its only female leader until 1983. William Orlamond
William Anderson Orlamond (1 August 1867 – 23 April 1957) was a Danish-American film actor. Orlamond appeared in more than 80 films between 1912 and 1938. Orlamond delivered his finest performance in director Victor Sjöström’s masterpiece '' The Wind'' (1928) in the supporting role of “Sourdough.” Early life Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, little is known about Orlamond’s antecedents except that he was born into a family of itinerant actors. He and his brother, Fritz, were included in the traveling acts virtually from infancy. When in his early 20s, he was supporting himself in Germany as a “dialect comedian.” Film career The date of Orlamond's emigration to the United States is unclear, but by 1912 he was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania working in one-reelers for Siegmund Lubin and appearing in Pathé and Edison Studios production shorts. Arthur Hoyt
Arthur Hoyt (March 19, 1874 – January 4, 1953) was an American film character actor who appeared in more than 275 films in his 34-year film career, about a third of them silent films. Career Born in Georgetown, Colorado, in 1874, Hoyt made his Broadway debut in 1905 in ''The Prince Consort''. He also appeared in Ferenc Molnár's '' The Devil'' in 1908, and made his final Broadway appearance in ''The Great Name'' in 1911. Hoyt made the silent comedy short ''The Scrub Lady'' in 1914, but his film acting career did not begin in earnest until 1916 when he appeared in another short, ''The Heart of a Show Girl''. From that time until 1944, each year a film was released in which Hoyt had acted – and frequently up to a dozen or so. Carl Gerard (born Carl Gerhard Petersen; 28 September 1885 – 6 January 1966), sometimes credited as Carl Gerrard, was a Danish-American actor known for playing supporting roles. Biography Gerard spent much of his career in Los Angeles and once worked alongside legendary actor Boris Karloff in the film '' The Public Defender'' (1931), in which he and his colleagues attempt to protect a millionaire from being framed. He married American actress Ethel Grey Terry in 1910 and remained with her until her death in 1931. Gerard died on 6 January 1966 in Los Angeles of a heart attack at the age of 80.
