The Munich U-Bahn () is an Railway electrification system, electric rail Rapid transit, rapid transit network in Munich, Germany. The system began operation in 1971, and is operated by the municipally owned Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG; Munich Transport Company). The network is integrated into the Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund (MVV; Munich Transport and Tariff Association) and interconnected with the Munich S-Bahn. The U-Bahn currently comprises eight lines, serving 96 stations (100 stations if four interchange stations with separate levels for different lines are counted twice), and encompassing of routes. Alongside the S-Bahn, the Munich subway is the most important means of local public transport in Munich. Giesing
Giesing (formerly Kyesinga) was a Bavarian town founded in 790 (older than Munich). The town was incorporated by the city of Munich in October 1854. Since then, it is a borough of the metropolis. Giesing is located south-east of Munich and has a population of 80,986 as of 2019-12-31. It consists of Obergiesing (part of Stadtbezirk 17 Obergiesing-Fasangarten) and Untergiesing (part of Stadtbezirk 18 Untergiesing-Harlaching). These sub-entities are divided in the Southern part by Auer Mühlbach. Giesing was one of the first villages in the perimeter of Munich to be incorporated into the city of Munich in 1854.
