Unión Do Povo Galego
The Galician People's Union () is a Galician nationalist and communist political party, and is one of the registered political parties of Spain. The party publishes the magazine ''Terra e Tempo'', and the secretary general is Néstor Rego. It was founded in 1964 with the intention of the independence of Galicia and its transformation into a socialist state. It caused the creation of nationalist fronts such as the Galician National-Popular Assembly and the Bloque Nacionalista Galego. Since 1982 it is one of the parties in the coalition. The current National Spokesperson (Ana Pontón) of the BNG is a member of the UPG. Néstor Rego
Néstor Rego Candamil (born 2 April 1962) is a Galicians, Galician teacher, politician and a member of the Congress of Deputies of Spain. He is leader of the Galician People's Union. Early life Rego was born on 2 April 1962 in O Vicedo, Galicia (Spain), Galicia. He grew up in A Mariña where he was acquainted with other young Galician nationalism, Galician nationalists including Hernán Naval. He was educated in Viveiro where he joined the Galician Revolutionary Students (ERGA) in 1977. He was one of the founders of the Galician Youth Union (UMG), the youth wing of the Galician People's Union (UPG). Rego has a degree in geography and history from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Whilst at university he helped found the Comités Abertos de Faculdade, a student organization. Bautista Goyel Álvarez Domínguez (1933 – 16 September 2017) was a Galician nationalist politician and historian. He was born in San Amaro, Spain. Álvarez, who was a founding member of the Galician People's Union in 1964, also served as the Galician political party's President from 1964 through 1977. Galicians ( or ''pobo galego''; ) are an ethnic group primarily residing in Galicia, northwest Iberian Peninsula. The Communist Party of Spain (; PCE) is a communist party that, since 1986, has been part of the United Left coalition, which is currently part of Sumar. Two of its politicians are Spanish government ministers: Yolanda Díaz (Minister of Labour and Social Economy) and Sira Rego (Minister of Youth and Children). Celso Emilio Ferreiro Míguez (1912–1979) was a Galicianism (Galicia), Galicianist activist, writer, poet, and political journalist. Early years Ferreiro was born in Celanova, into a well-off Galicianist family. In 1932, at the age of twenty, he created the ''Mocedades Galeguistas de Celanova'' (''Galicianist Youths of Celanova'') with Xosé Velo Mosquera. Partido Galeguista (1978)
The Partido Galeguista () was a Galician party founded in 1978, referring to itself as the historical descendant of the Partido Galeguista in the Second Spanish Republic (1931-1939). History After the electoral failure of the coalition of the Galician People's Party and the Galician Social-Democratic Party, members of both decided to re-form the Partido Galeguista, convoking a conference in November 1978. In the Spanish General and regional elections of 1979, the party formed a coalition called the Unidade Galega and supported a "Yes" vote in the referendum for the Statute that granted autonomy to Galicia in 1980.
