University Of Concepción
Universidad de Concepción (UdeC) is a traditional Chilean private university. The work of the Penquista community, it is one of the most prestigious in Chile, and considered complex due to its extensive research in the various areas of knowledge. Founded on May 14, 1919, it is the third oldest university in Chile, and one of the 25 universities belonging to the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities. Its headquarters are located in the city of Concepción, and also has two other campuses in Chillán and Los Ángeles. In a citizen survey carried out in 2012, it was chosen as the symbol that most identifies Penquistas. It was the first University created in the center-south zone of the country. Besides being the 1st to be constituted as a private law corporation and belong to the Cruz del Sur University Network, it also belongs to the G9 University Network. Chilean Traditional Universities
In Chile, universidades tradicionales ("traditional universities") refer to universities founded before the 1980s. It usually includes universities derived from traditional ones. A more precise term is (Universities of the Rectors' Council). Overview Chilean Traditional Universities is not a specific term since it reflects only the history of a given university and is not a valid description of the university itself or of the way that university is organized. Jorge González Camarena
Jorge González Camarena (24 March 1908 – 24 May 1980) was a Mexican painter, muralist and sculptor. He is best known for his mural work, as part of the Mexican muralism movement, although his work is distinct from the main names associated with it (Rivera, Orozco and Siqueiros). His major works include the mural on the main administration building of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies and a mural created for the Universidad de Concepción in Chile. He also created easel works, one of which, La Patria, was well known in Mexico as it was used on the cover of free textbooks from the 1960s into the 1970s. Recognitions for his work include the Premio Nacional de Arte, membership in the Academia de Artes and the Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana, grade Commendatore from the Italian government. Edgardo Enríquez Frödden (; February 9, 1912 - November 1, 1996) was a Chilean physician, academic and minister of education under the Salvador Allende government. Biography Family and careers Enríquez Frödden was born into an upper middle class family that featured prominently in the political history of the city of Concepción, Chile, as the son of Marco Antonio Enríquez Henríquez and Rosalba Frödden Lorenzen. His sister, Inés Enríquez Frödden, (1913–1998) was a lawyer, a leader of the Chilean Radical Party and the first woman elected into the chamber of deputies of the Chilean parliament. David Stitchkin Branover (October 25, 1912 — July 12, 1997) was a Chilean attorney and rector of the University of Concepción from 1956 to 1962. Background and education He was born in Santiago, Chile, on October 25, 1912. He attended the Law School of the University of Chile.
