Student housing at the University of California, Irvine, is separated between first-year students, continuing students, graduate students, and faculty. These accommodations serve the traditional purpose of housing residents and serve as a long-term outreach incentive for first-year students and faculty. Student housing also plays a crucial role in developing campus-wide social activities. Freshmen Accommodations First-year students are typically assigned to live in either Middle Earth Housing, Middle Earth or Mesa Court; each residence hall is managed by a student Resident Advisor. First-year students are no longer assigned to Arroyo Vista, which accommodates continuing students in theme houses, except those enrolled in the Campus-wide Honors Program. Because of increasing enrollment in recent years, on-campus housing is only guaranteed for first-year and transfer students.
