University Athletic Association Of The Philippines
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight-member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and the University of Santo Tomas (UST). The Far Eastern University – Institute of Accounts, Business, and Finance, or simply IABF, is the academic institute offering accountancy and business programs of the Far Eastern University. It is regarded as the oldest institute of the university, established prior to the creation of FEU. Sipa
Sipa (literally, "kick") is the Philippines' Traditional games in the Philippines, traditional native sport which predates the Spanish rule. The game is related to Sepak Takraw. Similar games include Footbag net, Footvolley, Bossaball and Jianzi. The game is both played by two teams, indoors or outdoors, on a court that is about the size of a basketball court. The teams consist of one, two or four players in each side. The aim of the game is to kick a soft ball made out of rattan fragments, back and forth over a Net (device), net in the middle of the court. The sport requires speed, agility and ball control. A point is awarded every time a player kicks the ball, the more the player kicks the ball, the more the points accumulate. Rules attached to the game are very minimal and even children can play, but the ratan ball version is preferred more for formal games. Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation, or commonly known as Akari (stylized as AKARI) is a Philippine lighting company. History Akari is a lighting brand under the Carlson Group of Companies of the Tiu family. Tiu patriarch Carlos started the family business in the 1970s becoming a distributor of Japanese light bulbs and fixtures. The family became the exclusive distributor of Toshiba lighting and wiring products in the Philippines. Carlson Group manufactured Toshiba lamps at its factory in Cavite until the plant's closure in 2006 due to economic reasons. Japanese products are reputed for its quality but the Tius accessed that it may be too expensive for a lower-income demographic. The Home of the UAAP, also referred to as the UAAP Arena owned by Akari Lighting & Technology, is a proposed indoor arena located in Amang Rodriguez Ave., Bridgetowne, Pasig, Philippines. The arena, which will become a "central hub" for the University Athletic Association of the Philippines events, is projected to have a capacity of 6,000 and is planned to open in 2027, in time for UAAP Season 90. UAAP Season 84
UAAP Season 84 was the 2021–22 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The Season 84 theme was "Fully Alive, Champions for Life" and the season's host was the De La Salle University. With the limitations brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, UAAP Season 84 only held men's basketball, men's and women's 3×3 basketball, women's volleyball, men's beach volleyball, cheerdance, taekwondo poomsae; and men's and women's chess tournaments as its events for the season. UST was declared UAAP general champion based on eight sporting events. Only the men's basketball, women's volleyball, and cheerdance were televised. UAAP Season 83 was the canceled 2020–21 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). This season was to be hosted by the De La Salle University. Eight member universities of the UAAP would compete in the league's sixteen sport disciplines to vie for the general championship. The COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines caused Season 82, which was supposed to end in May 2020, to be cancelled in April 2020. This had to be done to avoid logistical issues in organizing Season 83, which was planned to open in January 2021 but the plan was scrapped in December 2020, taking into account training that is usually held months prior to the opening of a UAAP season and the imposition of general community quarantine measures in Metro Manila. UAAP Season 82 was the 2019–20 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The season was hosted by the Ateneo de Manila University. The eight member universities of the UAAP competed in the league's sixteen sport disciplines to vie for the UAAP Overall Championship, general championship as 3x3 (basketball), 3x3 Basketball will now be included as a medal event in the Seniors level, with points counted towards the general championships.
