The Catholic University of Pelotas (, UCPel) is a private and non-profit Catholic university, located in Pelotas, one of the more southern cities of the country. Archdiocese
In church governance, a diocese or bishopric is the ecclesiastical district under the jurisdiction of a bishop. Arroio Grande ( Portuguese meaning the big stream) is a Brazilian municipality in the southern part of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The population is 18,238 (2020 est.) in an area of 2513.60 km². Its second industry is agriculture which was primary until the 1970s, it currently has more urban population (80%) than rural (20%). Much of the area is made up of plains. Pinheiro Machado () is a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. History Pinheiro Machado is one of the oldest towns in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Until 1830, the area was owned by the city of Rio Grande. After it became a part of Piratini city, separating on 24 February 1879, by the name of Nossa Senhora da Luz, or Nossa senhora da Luz das Cacimbinhas. The occupation of this town, according to records, began by the brigadier Rafael Pinto Bandeira, about 1765.
