Universidad Autónoma De Baja California Sur
The Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (in ) is a Mexican public university based in the state of Baja California Sur. Its library holds over 42,000 volumes. The university was created by Ángel César Mendoza Arámburo, the Governor of Baja California Sur, whose bill was published into law on 31 December 1975. Tomas Balarezo Cota was named the first rector by the university council on 2 February 1976. He was replaced by Rubén Cardoza Macías in 1978. UABCS opened an extension campus in Guerrero Negro in 1995 under Jesús Druk González's term as rector, offering degrees in economics and agricultural engineering in its first year. The National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (Spanish language, Spanish: ''Asociación Nacional de Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior'', ANUIES) is a non-governmental organization which includes 191 public and private higher education institutions in Mexico. Ángel César Mendoza Arámburo
Ángel César Mendoza Arámburo (15 December 1934 – 25 March 2014) was a Mexican politician, the first elected governor in the state of Baja California Sur for the period 1975 to 1981. As a lawyer for the National Autonomous University of Mexico, he held various positions within the Institutional Revolutionary Party. He was federal deputy in the legislature XLVII Congress and was Secretary for Tax Inspectorate of Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (1982). Guerrero Negro
Guerrero Negro (English: Black Warrior) is the largest town located in the municipality of Mulegé in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur (BCS). It had a population of 13,596 in the 2020 census. Jesús Druk González
Jesús Druk González (born 1952/1953) is a Mexican politician representing the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD). He served in the X Legislature of the Congress of Baja California Sur from 2002 to 2005. He was also the PRD nominee for Governor of Baja California Sur in 2015. Outside of politics, he served as the rector of the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur from 1993 to 1999.
