Unity (comics)
"Unity" is an 18-issue fictional crossover, crossover story published by Valiant Comics in the summer of 1992. It was conceived by Valiant's Editor-in-Chief, Jim Shooter, who wanted to revolutionize the crossover concept in comics. The story was serialized in all nine of the Valiant Universe comic book titles published from August to September 1992 and set up several spin-off titles. In 2012, several years after Valiant had ceased publishing comic books, they restarted their continuity and the name was repurposed for the superhero team Unity (team), Unity. Valiant Comics
Valiant Comics is an American comic books, comic book publisher, the first incarnation of which was founded in 1989 by former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Jim Shooter along with lawyer and businessman Steven Massarsky. In 1994, the company was sold to Acclaim Entertainment. After Acclaim’s 2004 bankruptcy, the company’s assets were purchased as part of Valiant Entertainment by entrepreneurs Dinesh Shamdasani and Jason Kothari in 2005. In 2011, Valiant received a capital infusion from private investment company Cuneo & Company, LLC. Peter Cuneo and Gavin Cuneo joined the company and a relaunch was announced. Valiant Entertainment launched its publishing division in 2012 as part of an initiative dubbed the "Summer of Valiant", winning Publisher of the Year and being nominated for Book of the Year at the Diamond Gem Awards. Archer & Armstrong
Archer & Armstrong is a superhero duo in the Valiant Comics universe. The two were originally created by writer and artist Barry Windsor-Smith and introduced in their own self-titled comic book series in 1992. After Acclaim Entertainment bought Valiant Comics in 1996, the two characters were rebooted in a series of one-shot comics entitled ''Eternal Warriors''. Eternal Warrior
Gilad Anni-Padda, also known as the Eternal Warrior, is a superhero published by Valiant Comics and created by Jim Shooter and Don Perlin. Introduced in 1992, he was then rebooted in 1996 after Acclaim Entertainment bought Valiant Comics. He was rebooted again by Valiant Entertainment, Inc. in 2012. An ageless master fighter with enhanced abilities, Gilad helps protect Earth and humanity from various threats over his long life, often using methods considered ruthless by others. ''Harbinger'' is an American comic book series published by Valiant Comics about a group of teenage super-powered outcasts known as Harbingers. ''Harbinger'' initially featured writing and art by Jim Shooter and David Lapham. Rai (comics)
is a fictional superhero that appeared in books published by Valiant Comics. Rai was the first original hero created by Valiant and had its beginning as a flipbook back-up feature in ''Magnus, Robot Fighter'' #5 (October 1991), in ''Rai'' #1 (October 1991). The popularity of the flipbook back-up story later led to an ongoing series. In his original incarnation, Rai is the spirit guardian that protects the nation of Japan in the 41st century. Shadowman is a fictional superhero who appears in comic books published by Valiant Comics. The character debuted in ''Shadowman'' #1 (May 1992), created by writers Jim Shooter and Steve Englehart, and artist David Lapham. James Shooter (born September 27, 1951) is an American writer, editor, and publisher in the comics industry. Beginning his career writing for DC Comics at the age of 14, he had a successful but controversial run as editor-in-chief at Marvel Comics, and launched comics publishers Valiant Comics, Valiant, Defiant Comics, Defiant, and Broadway Comics, Broadway. The Valiant Universe is the fictional shared universe where most stories in American comic book titles that are published by Valiant Comics take place. The majority of the characters within said universe were created by Jim Shooter, and Bob Layton, the founders of the publisher.
