''Ultima'' is a series of open world fantasy role-playing video games from Origin Systems, created by Richard Garriott. Electronic Arts has owned the brand since 1992. The series had sold over 2 million copies by 1997. A significant series in computer game history, it is considered, alongside ''Wizardry'' and '' Might and Magic'', to be one of the norm-establishers of the computer role-playing game genre. Ultima is a town in the Rural City of Swan Hill, Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. The town is located north-west of the state capital, Melbourne, and south-west of Swan Hill, Victoria, Swan Hill. At the 2021 census, Ultima had a population of 173, down from 333 in 2011. is a Japanese company based in Tokyo, which operates internationally under the name KYOSHO. The company's main office is located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Chiyoda, and the production headquarters are located in Atsugi, Kanagawa. Baroque chess is a chess variant invented in 1962 by Robert Abbott. In 1963, at the suggestion of his publisher, he changed the name to Ultima, by which name it is also known. Abbott later considered his invention flawed and suggested amendments to the rules, but these suggestions have been substantially ignored by the gaming community, which continues to play by the 1962 rules. Since the rules for Baroque were first laid down in 1962, some regional variation has arisen, causing the game to diverge from Ultima. Description Baroque chess is usually played on a standard 8×8 chessboard with the standard Staunton design of chess pieces.
