UWA World Women's Championship
The UWA World Women's Championship (''Campeonato Mundial Feminil de UWA'' in Spanish) was a singles women's professional wrestling championship promoted by the Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling based promotion Universal Wrestling Association (UWA) from 1975 until the UWA closed in 1995 and since then defended on the Mexican independent circuit. Zuleyma was the reigning champion when UWA closed and she sporadically defended the title over the next 10 years, often with over a year between title defenses. Universal Wrestling Association
The Universal Wrestling Association (UWA) was a Mexican ''Lucha Libre'' or professional wrestling promotion based in Naucalpan, Mexico State that operated from 1975 until 1995. The name of the actual promotion was Promociones Mora y Asociados and later Lucha Libre Internacional (LLI) ("International wrestling") but outside of Mexico it is generally referred to as the UWA as it was the name of the fictional international sanctioning body that in storyline terms oversaw all championships promoted by LLI. The company was founded by wrestler and trainer Ray Mendoza, promoter Francisco Flores (wrestling promoter), Francisco Flores and investor Benjamín Mora, Jr. as when they broke away from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre to form their own promotion. Kayfabe
In professional wrestling, kayfabe (pronounced ) is the portrayal of staged events within the industry as "real" or "true", specifically competition, rivalries, and relationships between participants. The term has evolved to become a code word of sorts for maintaining this "reality" within the direct or indirect presence of the general public. In the United States, kayfabe is often seen as the suspension of disbelief that is used to create the non-wrestling aspects of promotions, such as feuds, angles, and gimmicks in a manner similar to other forms of fictional entertainment. In relative terms, a wrestler breaking kayfabe would be likened to an actor breaking character on-camera. Harley Saito
was a Japanese professional wrestler, who performed under the ring name . She spent much of her career for Ladies Legend Pro-Wrestling. Professional wrestling career Trained by Nancy Kumi at the JWP Joshi Puroresu Dojo, Sayori Saito mader her debut for JWP in 1986, adopting the name Halley, from Halley's comet. In March 1987, she wrestled a show for New Japan Pro-Wrestling, losing to Miss A. During that time, she changed her ring name to Harley, from Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Lidia Hortencia Rangel Ávalos (born December 29, 1955) is a Mexican former professional wrestler, more commonly known under the ring name Pantera Sureña (Spanish for "Southern Panther"). She has also worked as the '' enmascarada'' ("masked") wrestling characters La Galáctica, La Galáctica 2000, Lady Discovery and Lady Metal during her career. Her career began in 1969 and stretched until 2008 where she worked her last match. Nezahualcóyotl (), or more commonly Neza, is a city and municipal seat of the municipalities of Mexico, municipality of Nezahualcóyotl in Mexico. Irma Morales Muñoz (born August 20, 1936), best known by her ring name Irma González, is a Mexican retired '' luchadora'' (or professional wrestler). A professional wrestling promotion is a company or business that regularly performs shows involving professional wrestling. In professional wrestling, the independent circuit (often shortened to the indie circuit or the indies) is the collective name of independently owned promotions which are deemed to be smaller and more regionalized than major national promotions. ''Lucha libre'' (, meaning "freestyle wrestling" or literally translated as "free fight") is the term for the style of professional wrestling originating in Mexico.
