UEFA Euro 1972 Quarter-finals
The UEFA Euro 1972 quarter-finals was the last round of UEFA Euro 1972 qualifying, qualifying competition for UEFA Euro 1972. They were contested by the eight group winners of the qualifying tournament. The winners of each of four home-and-away ties qualified for the finals tournament in Belgium. The matches were played on 29–30 April and 13–14 May 1972, with a replay on 17 May 1972. Qualification Each group winner progressed to the quarter-finals. The quarter-finals were played in two legs on a home-and-away basis. The winners of the quarter-finals would go through to the final tournament. Lajos Sătmăreanu (also known as Ludovic Sătmăreanu, , born 21 February 1944) is a Romanian former football player of Hungarian ethnicity. Club career Lajos Sătmăreanu, nicknamed '' Facchetti of the Carpathians'' was born on 21 February 1944 in Salonta, Romania and started to play football in 1958 at local club, Recolta. He made his Divizia A debut on 17 March 1963, playing for Crișana Oradea in a 4–2 away loss against Steaua București, shortly afterwards moving to play at neighboring team, Flamura Roșie in Divizia B for one season. Kurt Waldemar Tschenscher (5 October 1928 – 13 August 2014) was a German football referee. Career Born in Schimischow, Weimar Germany (today Szymiszów, Poland), Tschenscher took up refereeing in 1948 and by 1953 he was part of the German Football Association's group of top referees. Within another five years, he was promoted to the FIFA list of international referees. In October 1959, he refereed the second leg of Yugoslavia's 1960 European Nations' Cup first round win over Bulgaria. Lajos Kocsis
Lajos Kocsis (18 June 1947 in Szeged – 9 October 2000 in Budapest) was a Hungarian football midfielder, who played for Bp. Honvéd SE. He was an Olympic champion in 1968. Club career Kocsis started his career in his native town of Szeged, with third-division Szegedi VSE. Lajos became a first-division player in 1966, having been transferred to then first division Salgótarjáni BTC. Alexandru "Sandu" Neagu (19 July 1948 – 17 April 2010) was a Romanian footballer who played as a striker. Nicolae Dobrin (; 26 August 1947 – 26 October 2007) was a Romanian footballer who played as an attacking midfielder and a manager.
