The 1962 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 25th year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by National University, the UE Warriors defeated the UP Parrots in a single game finals taking their fourth UAAP men's basketball championship. Participating schools Finals Underrated University of the East recaptured the UAAP senior cage championship by demolishing University of the Philippines, 70-55, before a crowd of 5,000 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum. The Warriors lost the title to Far Eastern University the previous year. The 1961 UAAP men's basketball tournament was the 24th year of the men's tournament of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP)'s basketball championship. Hosted by Far Eastern University, the FEU Tamaraws defeated the UE Warriors in a single game finals taking their sixth overall UAAP men's basketball championship. Participating schools Finals Far Eastern University's five-year long quest for a UAAP basketball diadem came to an end when it trampled University of the East, 105–84, before 8,000 fans at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum. The Tamaraws, playing headly and steady basketball, swept their title-round engagements to nail down the UAAP flag. The victory was FEU's first championship since 1956 and its sixth since the loop was born in 1938. UE deprived the Tamaraws the title by a margin of only one point during the previous year's finals. Jimmy Mariano
Jaime L. Mariano (born April 19, 1941), also known by his moniker Mr. Cool, is a Filipino people, Filipino former basketball player and coach. Mariano was born in Malabon, Rizal (province), Rizal, Philippines. Standing at 6'3 1/2" without shoes, he played primarily the power forward position and could play the small forward and center positions. He became famous as a player for the UE Red Warriors basketball, UE Red Warriors team under Coach Baby Dalupan. He played for Ysmael Steel Admirals, Ysmael Steel, Meralco Reddy Kilowatts, Meralco and Concepcion Industries in the Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association. He became known as a deadly shooting big man from the outside before the three point line was popularized. He was elevated to the Philippine Basketball Association in 1975 with Concepcion Carrier. UST Growling Tigers Men's Basketball
The UST Growling Tigers basketball is the college basketball, intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The school has won 19 basketball titles including one in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Rizal Memorial Coliseum
The Rizal Memorial Coliseum is an indoor arena in the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila, Philippines. It can hold up to 6,100 people. History The Rizal Memorial Coliseum within the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex was built on the former site of Manila Carnival Grounds in 1934 as a tennis stadium named "Rizal Memorial Tennis Stadium", but was later renamed “Rizal Memorial Coliseum” at an unknown time.
