Transport In Algeria
As the tenth-largest country in the world, and the largest in Africa and in the Mediterranean region, Algeria has a vast transportation system that includes a large and diverse transportation infrastructure. Railways There are a total of of railways: with of that being electrified and of that being double tracked. SNTF operates the railways, whilst a new, separate organisation, Anesrif, has been created to manage infrastructure investment. The High Plateau line is a major new project to build an east-west line across the country, parallel to the Rocade Nord. Annaba
Annaba ( ar, عنّابة, "Place of the Jujubes"; ber, Aânavaen), formerly known as Bon, Bona and Bône, is a seaport city in the northeastern corner of Algeria, close to the border with Tunisia. Annaba is near the small Seybouse River and is in the Annaba Province. With a population of about 464,740 (2019) and 1,000,000 for the metropole, Annaba is the third-largest city and the leading industrial center in Algeria. Annaba is a coastal city that underwent significant growth during the 20th century. Tilting Train
A tilting train is a train that has a mechanism enabling increased speed on regular rail tracks. As a train (or other vehicle) rounds a curve at speed, objects inside the train experience centrifugal force. This can cause packages to slide about or seated passengers to feel squashed by the outboard armrest, and standing passengers to lose their balance. Tilting trains are designed to counteract this by tilting the carriages towards the inside of the curve, thus compensating for the g-force. The train may be constructed such that inertial forces cause the tilting (''passive tilt''), or it may have a computer-controlled powered mechanism (''active tilt''). The first passive tilting car design was built in the US in 1937, and an improved version was built in 1939. The beginning of World War II ended development. Bordj El Kiffan
Bordj El Kiffan (Arabic 'برج الكيفان') is a suburb of the city of Algiers in northern Algeria. It is in the eastern section of the city, near Matares Beach. Named Fort de l'Eau (Fr. 'Water Fortress') under French rule prior to 1962, used to be a famous beach resort within the Bay of Algiers, complete with luxury hotels and a casino. Pollution from urbanization, nearby industrialization, and untreated sewage affected the status, and the beach was no longer popular since the late 1970s. The urban location, however, preserved some of its former recreational status. Oran ( ar, وَهران, Wahrān) is a major coastal city located in the north-west of Algeria. Khemis Miliana
Khemis Miliana ( ar, خميس مليانة, links=no) is a town in northern Algeria of around 500000 inhabitants. It is a university town located 120 kilometers west of Algiers. It was known as Malliana in Roman times, then Affreville during the French colonial era. It should not be confused with the smaller city of Miliana nearby. Khemis Miliana was once the largest commune in Africa, before it was divided into many communes. The Diocese of Malliana is a titular see of the Roman Catholic Church of which Khemis Miliana was the episcopal seat. Geography Khemis-Miliana has an important geostrategic location.
