Théâtre Du Nouveau Monde
The Théâtre du Nouveau Monde (TNM) is a theatre company and venue located on rue Sainte-Catherine in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in , it launched with the classic play ''L'Avare'' by Molière. Initially located at the Gesù (1951–1958), it subsequently moved to the Orpheum, then after 1966 it transferred to the salle Port-Royal at Place des Arts and remained there until 1972. In 1972, the TNM bought the building where the Gayety Theatre and later the Théâtre de la Comédie-Canadienne once performed. The building was renovated in 1997 by Montreal architect Dan Hanganu. Theatre or theater is a collaborative form of performing art that uses live performers, usually actors or actresses, to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place, often a stage. The performers may communicate this experience to the audience through combinations of gesture, speech, song, music, and dance. Les Compagnons de Saint-Laurent was a theatre company that was founded in August 1937 at Collège de Saint-Laurent in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, by , , and Léonide Lavinge. According to The Canadian Encyclopedia it was the " ..most influential theatrical company in the history of Québec". The company dissolved in 1951. The Théâtre du Rideau Vert is a theatre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located at 4664 Saint Denis Street in the borough of Le Plateau-Mont-Royal. Founded in 1949 by Yvette Brind'Amour and Mercedes Palomino, the Théâtre du Rideau Vert was the first professional French-language theatre in Canada. Lorraine Pintal (born September 24, 1951) is a Canadian actor, director, producer and playwright. Biography The daughter of Jean Pintal and Anne-Marie Bélanger, she was born in Plessisville and studied at the and the Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Montréal. She debuted with the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde in 1973 in ''Mistero Buffo''. In the same year, she was a co-founder of the Théâtre de La Rallonge.
