Rev. Thomas Flynn SSC, was an Irish missionary priest, who was killed by Hukbalahap communist rebels in 1950 in the Philippines. Biography Thomas Flynn was born on 5 November 1908 in Sixmilebridge, County Clare, Ireland. In 1928 Flynn went to Clonliffe College, Dublin to be educated for priesthood, moving in 1931 to St. Patrick's College, Maynooth. He was ordained a priest for the Dublin diocese in 1935. From 1941, he served as chaplain to the Gurkhas in the British Army. He joined the Missionary Society of St. Columban Mission to China in 1947, and was posted to the Philippines in 1948. Death On 30 October 1950, Flynn was taken from his parish in Labrador, Pangasinan, Philippines by Hukbalahap Communist guerrillas, and killed. He was 42 years old. Thomas Flynn (c. 1849 – 21 April 1931) was an Australian cricket umpire who officiated four Test matches involving the Australian cricket team in the later part of the 19th century. Umpiring career Flynn made his Test match debut in the game between Australia and England that took place in Melbourne from 1 January 1892; his umpiring colleague for the match was Jim Phillips. His last Test match, also with Phillips, was in Melbourne on 1 March 1895. Flynn's appointment to the two Melbourne Cricket Ground Tests in the 1894–95 season proved uncontroversial. In between the two matches he was also nominated to umpire the fourth Test of the series at Sydney, alongside Phillips; the match followed the New South Wales game against Victoria, and Flynn was Victoria's regular umpire in first-class matches between 1891 and 1895. Thomas Jeffery Flynn (born March 24, 1962) is a former American football safety who played five seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Pittsburgh and was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 1984 NFL Draft. In his rookie season he led the NFC in interceptions with nine, and was voted Pro Football Weekly's NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He was unexpectedly cut by the Packers early in the 1986 season, but was signed by the New York Giants soon after. He is remembered by the Giants for his big play in the last game of the 1986 season, against the Packers, where he exacted revenge on his old team by blocking a punt and returning it for a touchdown. Thomas Flynn (born 23 November, 1990) is the English footballer, who plays for Whitley Bay. Career Flynn began his footballing career at Newcastle United's Academy, signing with Hibernian in 2007 summer. After progressing through the club's youth setup, he was one of seven players from the club's under-19 side to be given a full-time contract in 2009. Flynn was then loaned to Alloa Athletic in February 2010. At the end of the season, he returned to Hibernian. On 13 August, 2010, Flynn rejoined Alloa on loan, after first-choice goalkeeper Jamie Ewings suffered an injury. In January 2011, he was loaned to Albion Rovers. Bush to succeed Thurgood Marshall and has served since 1991.
