''This Is Your Life'' is an Australian television documentary and reality show, based on the American show of the same name, which was created, produced and originally hosted by Ralph Edwards, in which the presenter surprises celebrity guests with a show documenting their lives, with audience participation from their friends and family. Original broadcast The original series began broadcasting in Australia in 1975 on the Seven Network, with Bill Lovelock as executive producer and Mike Willesee as host. Subsequent seasons were compered by Digby Wolfe (1976) and Roger Climpson (1977–1980). Nine Network versions In 1995, the Nine Network relaunched the program with a 13-year successful run hosted by journalist Mike Munro. Reality television is a genre of television programming that documents purportedly unscripted real-life situations, often starring unfamiliar people rather than professional actors. Stereophonic sound, or more commonly stereo, is a method of sound reproduction that recreates a multi-directional, 3-dimensional audible perspective. This is usually achieved by using two independent audio channels through a configuration of two loudspeakers (or stereo headphones) in such a way as to create the impression of sound heard from various directions, as in natural hearing. Because the multi-dimensional perspective is the crucial aspect, the term ''stereophonic'' also applies to systems with more than two channels or speakers such as quadraphonic and surround sound. Ian Thorpe
Ian James Thorpe, (born 13 October 1982) is an Australian retired swimmer who specialised in freestyle, but also competed in backstroke and the individual medley. He has won five Olympic gold medals, the most won by any Australian along with fellow swimmer Emma McKeon. TV Tonight is an Australian-based website which features reviews, news and programming information related to television in Australia as well as OzTAM ratings information. The site was started by television critic David Knox in 2007 after listeners of his radio programs asked him for information they had missed. Knox runs the site, publishing his interviews with Australian media actors, producers, directors and programmers. Bill Lovelock
William (Bill) Lawrence Lovelock was born in Sydney on 19 June 1922 and died in the North Sydney suburb of Ryde City on 8 August 2003. He was a songwriter and broadcaster with successes in Australia, Great Britain and the United States. Life Bill Lovelock descended from a family originally from the English town of Wallingford who settled in the Sydney area in the 1860s. After acting as an intelligence reporter during World War 2, he was unsettled by the experience and unable to settle down to academic study. Instead, he began a career as musician and writer and had his first radio play, "Banshee", broadcast in the late 1940s. His biggest success was with the song "Snowy River, Roll!", which was written in support of the Snowy Mountains Scheme.
