Taddeo Alderotti
Taddeo Alderotti (Latin: Thaddaeus Alderottus, French : Thaddée de Florence), born in Florence between 1206 and 1215, died in 1295, was an Italian doctor and professor of medicine at the University of Bologna, who made important contributions to the renaissance of learned medicine in Europe during the High Middle Ages. He was among the first to organize a medical lecture at the university. One of his works describes a method for concentrating ethanol involving repeated fractional distillation through a water-cooled still, by which an ethanol purity of 90% could be obtained. Dante seems to reference him in the Paradiso (XII, 82-85), indicating he pursued learning not for spiritual reasons but worldly ambition, contrasting him with St. Dominic. Taddeo Landini (c. 1561 – March 13, 1596) was an Italian sculptor and architect of the Mannerist period, active mainly in his native Florence and after 1580, in Rome. Biography His initial training was in Tuscany, and to Rome, he brought the decorative style of Florentine fountains. In Florence, in the early 1580s, he sculpted a copy of Michelangelo's ''Risen Christ'' for the church of Santo Spirito. He was also called to sculpt the statue of ''Winter'', a man shivering, on the Ponte Santa Trinita over the river Arno. The bridge was designed by Ammanati. The other three seasons were completed by either Caccini and Francavilla. Moving to Rome, he completed the relief of ''Christ washing the Feet of the Disciples'' and a triton for the fountains in Piazza Navona. Taddeo Orlando (Gaeta, 23 June 1885 – Turin, 1 September 1950) was an Italian general who served in the Italo-Turkish War, World War I, and World War II. Biography Orlando was born in Gaeta on June 23, 1885. He attended the Military College of the Nunziatella in Naples and then the Royal Military Academy of Artillery and Engineers in Turin. He graduated as Second Lieutenant in 1906 and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1908, and took part in the Italo-Turkish War (1911–1912), where he distinguished himself and was decorated with a Bronze Medal of Military Valour. Taddeo Manfredi (1431 – c. 1486) was Lord of Imola from 1448 until 1473. As a condottiere (mercenary leader), he was commander in the Florentine (1443–1448 and 1452) and Neapolitan (1448–1452) armies. After inheriting the seigniory of Imola after the death of his father, Guidantonio Manfredi, he struggled long with his uncle Astorre II Manfredi, who held Faenza. The two reconciled in 1463, but the war resumed four years later. In 1467, after having been besieged in Imola by Alessandro and Costanzo Sforza, he fought in the Battle of Molinella. In 1471, his son Guidoriccio rebelled against him, and Manfredi was imprisoned under the authority of the Milanese general Roberto da Sanseverino. In 1472, he was freed, but the city rebelled against him. The following year, he sold the city for 40,000 ducats to Cardinal Pietro Riario, who ceded it to Girolamo Riario. Taddeo Luigi dal Verme (1641–1717) was a Roman Catholic cardinal. Biography He was born in Piacenza on 16 February 1641 and was baptized the following day. He was the son of Giovanni Maria Dal Verme, count of Sanguinetto, and of Ottavia Meli-Lupi, marquise of Soragna . He was also the nephew of Cardinal Savio Mellini and was related to cardinals Girolamo Farnese and Mario Alberizzi. Tadeusz Kuntze (also Taddeo Kuntze or Taddeo Polacco) was the pseudonym of the Polish-Silesian painter Tadeusz Konicz (3 October 1733 – 8 May 1793), who was active in Kraków, in Paris, in Spain and in Rome. Life Konicz was born in Grünberg, Silesia (now Zielona Góra, Poland) on 3 October 1733. He was raised in Kraków at the court of the bishop, Andrzej Stanisław Załuski, who in 1747 sent him to Rome to study. From 1748 to 1752 he studied at the Académie de France, and later under Ludovico Mazzanti and at the newly established scuola libera del nudo. He painted a number of works in Poland in 1754, including altarpieces of '' St Adalbert'' and of '' St Casimir'' in Kraków Cathedral, and the '' Fortune'' now in the National Museum, Warsaw.
