Tân Cảng Station (Vietnamese: ''Ga Tân Cảng'') is an elevated Ho Chi Minh City Metro station on Line 1 and the future Line 5. Located on Điện Biên Phủ Boulevard in Bình Thạnh District, next to Saigon Bridge, the station opened on 22 December 2024. It was named after the nearby former Saigon Newport ''(Tân Cảng Sài Gòn)'', which is now the Vinhomes Central Park development area, where the highest building in Vietnam, Landmark 81, is located here. Ho Chi Minh City Metro
The Ho Chi Minh City Metro (HCMC Metro, ) is a rapid transit system in Ho Chi Minh City, the most populous city in Vietnam. The system currently consists of one operational line, Line 1 which opened on 22 December 2024 from Bến Thành Market to Eastern Bus Terminus. Additional lines are currently under construction or being planned. Line 1 is long with three underground stations ( Bến Thành, Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, and Ba Son) and eleven elevated stations. The three stations above are Vietnam's first underground metro stations. Trains are designed to travel at up to on the elevated sections and up to underground. Bình Thạnh District
Bình Thạnh is a district of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. , the district had a population of 490,618 and a total area of 21 km2. The name of the district was formed from the names of two wards in the old Gò Vấp district, Bình Hòa and Thạnh Mỹ Tây. In 1976, those two wards were removed from Gò Vấp District to create Bình Thạnh District. Administrative division Bình Thạnh is divided into 20 wards. Saigon Bridge
Saigon Bridge, also known as Newport Bridge () before 1975, is a bridge crossing the Saigon River, connecting Bình Thạnh District and District 2, Ho Chi Minh City now is Thủ Đức, on the Hanoi Highway. The bridge has four lanes for cars and two lanes for motorcycles and bicycles. It was the only bridge linking District 1 to the new Thu Thiem New Urban Area in District 2 until the inauguration of Thủ Thiêm Bridge in 2008 and the Saigon River Tunnel in 2011. Newport was a United States Army and Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) logistics base located on the Saigon River north of central Saigon in southern Vietnam.
