Turkmenistan Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The Turkmenistan national ice hockey team () is the national men's ice hockey team of Turkmenistan. The team is controlled by the Turkmenistan Ice Hockey Federation (; TŞHF) and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Turkmenistan is currently ranked 49th in the IIHF World Ranking and made its debut in the 2018 World Championship Division III Qualification tournament. History The first national team formed in 2011 of four teams from Ashgabat: Oguzkhan, Alp Arslan, Shir and Burgut. In 2013, Turkmenistan held its first (unofficial) match against Minsk City, which was won by a score of 7–2. Turkmenistan participated at the 2017 Asian Winter Games. They won their first match in an official tournament by defeating Malaysia 9–2 and later went on to win their division by defeating Kyrgyzstan 7–3 in the gold medal game. The Turkmenistan Ice Hockey Federation (, TŞHF) is the governing body of ice hockey in Turkmenistan. History In 2014, at the IIHF congress in Minsk, Belarus, an official application was submitted for the entry of the National Hockey Center of Turkmenistan into the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). On 15 May 2015, the application of Turkmenistan was approved, the National Winter Sports Center of Turkmenistan became the 74th member of the IIHF. Turkmenistan became the third former Soviet Republic from Central Asia to join the IIHF after Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The Ice Hockey World Championships are an annual international men's ice hockey tournament organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), first officially held at the 1920 Summer Olympics. The IIHF was created in 1908 while the Ice Hockey European Championships, European Championships, the precursor to the World Championships, were first held in 1910. 2019 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships
The 2019 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships was the 83rd such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Teams participated at several levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for division placements in the 2020 competition. Two national teams, Kyrgyzstan and Thailand, made their debut in the World Championships. Championship (Top Division) The tournament was held in Bratislava and Košice, Slovakia from 10 to 26 May 2019. Participants in the tournament were 14 teams continuing from the 2018 Championship tournament, as well as Great Britain and Italy, promoted from the 2018 Division I-A tournament. 1992 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships
The 1992 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships was the 56th such event sanctioned by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Teams representing a record 32 countries participated in several levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for group placements in the 1993 competition. The top Championship Group A tournament took place in Czechoslovakia from 28 April to 10 May 1992, with games played in Prague and Bratislava. This would be the last championship held in that nation before the dissolution of Czechoslovakia eight months later. Twelve teams took part, with the first round being split into two groups of six, with the four best teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals. The 1991 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships was the 55th such event sanctioned by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), and at the same time served as the 66th and last Ice Hockey European Championships. Teams representing 25 countries participated in several levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for group placements in the 1992 competition. The top Championship Group A tournament took place in Finland from 19 April to 4 May 1991, with games played in Turku, Helsinki and Tampere. The 1954 Ice Hockey World Championships, were the 21st World Championships and 32nd European ice hockey championships were held from 26 February to 7 March 1954 in Stockholm, Sweden. Every team played each other once with the top three finishers receiving medals at the end. The USSR won in its first attempt, led by Vsevolod Bobrov who was recognized as the best forward of the tournament in the first ever presentation of Directorate Awards. Description The USSR won their first five games before meeting up with the host, and defending champion, Sweden. The 2020 IIHF World Championship Division III was an international ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Group A tournament would have been held in Kockelscheuer, Luxembourg from 19 to 25 April and the Group B tournament in Cape Town, South Africa from 20 to 23 April 2020. Sergei Nemchinov
Sergei Lvovich Nemchinov (; born 14 January 1964) is a Russian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils for twelve seasons, bookended by ten seasons in the Soviet Championship League with PHC Krylya Sovetov and HC CSKA Moscow, and two in the Russian Superleague with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Nemchinov works in the Admiral Vladivostok. Playing career Nemchinov was one of the last picks of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft when he was selected in the 12th round, 244th overall by the Rangers. He went on to play in 761 regular season games in his NHL career, scoring 152 goals and 193 assists for 345 points, picking up 251 penalty minutes.
