African Volleyball Confederation
The African Volleyball Confederation (French: ''Confédération Africaine de Volleyball'', or CAVB) is the continental governing body for the sports of volleyball in Africa. Its headquarters are located in Rabat, Morocco. Profile The CAVB was the last confederation to be created: it was established in 1972, when the FIVB turned its five Volleyball Zone Commissions into continental confederations. The Espérance Sportive de Tunis Volleyball (, often referred to as ''EST'') is one of Espérance Sportive de Tunis club's sections that represent the club in Tunisia and international volleyball competitions, the club team section based in capital Tunis since the year 1956. El Menzah Sport Palace () is an indoor sports arena situated in El Menzah, a district in the north of Tunis. It is located in the heart of the Olympic City of El Menzah, near the Stade El Menzah. History Built on the occasion of the 1967 Mediterranean Games opened by president Habib Bourguiba, the arena was used primarily for the volleyball competition. The architect for the structure was Olivier-Clément Cacoub. The 5,500-seat enclosure hosted matches of the 2005 World Men's Handball Championship as well as those of the African handball nations championships organized in Tunisia (1974, 1981, 1994, 2006). Sidi Bou Said ( ') is a town in northern Tunisia located about 20 km northeast from the capital, Tunis. Named after a religious figure who lived there, Abu Said al-Baji, it was previously called Jbel el-Menar. The town itself is a tourist attraction and is known for its extensive use of blue and white. It can be reached by a Tunis-Goulette-Marsa, TGM train, which runs from Tunis to La Marsa. La Goulette (, ), in Arabic Halq al-Wadi ( '), is a municipality and the port of Tunis, Tunisia. La Goulette is located at around on a sandbar between Lake of Tunis, Lake Tūnis and the Gulf of Tunis. The port, located 12km east of Tunis, is the point of convergence of Tunisia's major road and rail networks.
