Treviglio–Bergamo Railway
The Treviglio–Bergamo railway is a railway line in Lombardy, Italy. The railway infrastructure is managed by the Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, which classifies it as one of its complementary lines. The passenger service is operated by Trenord as a regional service. Treviglio railway station ( it, Stazione di Treviglio), also known as Treviglio centrale railway station (Italian: ''Stazione centrale di Treviglio'') is the main station serving the town and comune of Treviglio, in the region of Lombardy, northern Italy. Opened in 1878, it has a higher average number of passengers per day than Treviglio's other railway station, Treviglio Ovest. The station lies on the Milan–Venice railway, Treviglio–Bergamo railway and Treviglio–Cremona railway and is terminus of two suburban railways passing through Milan toward Novara (S6) and Varese (S5). Bergamo railway station ( it, Stazione di Bergamo) serves the city and ''comune'' of Bergamo, in the region of Lombardy, northern Italy. Opened in 1854, it is located at the junction of lines to Brescia, Lecco, Seregno and Treviglio. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company. Milano Centrale ( it, Stazione Milano Centrale) is the main railway station of the city of Milan, Italy, and is the largest railway station in Europe by volume. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) is the Italian railway infrastructure manager, subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), a state-owned holding company. RFI is the owner of Italy's railway network, it provides signalling, maintenance and other services for the railway network. It also operates train ferries between the Italian Peninsula and Sicily. RFI's origins can be traced back to a series of railway sector reforms enacted by the Italian government during the late 1980s and 1990s. Trenord is a railway company which is responsible for the operation of regional passenger trains in Lombardy. The company was established by the two main railway companies in Lombardy, Trenitalia and Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM), to manage train operations in the region. The equity is equally divided between the two companies. History ''Trenitalia LeNord'' (TLN) was founded in Milan on 4 August 2009 from the merging of LeNord, company owned by FNM, and the Lombardy regional division of Trenitalia. The first step of the new company was the opening of a new maintenance and cleaning center for trains in Lombardy, the biggest in Italy.
